Job Description

The Utility/Kitchen Steward plays a vital support role in kitchen operations, responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of kitchen facilities, equipment, and utensils. This position ensures the kitchen operates efficiently by providing essential cleaning and maintenance support to culinary staff.

Key Responsibilities



Dishwashing & Utensil Management



Operate commercial dishwashing machines and equipment Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, glassware, and utensils Sort and organize clean dishes and equipment for kitchen use Maintain proper water temperature and chemical levels in dishwashers Hand-wash delicate items and specialty equipment Ensure adequate supply of clean dishes during service periods

Pot Washing & Equipment Cleaning



Clean and sanitize pots, pans, and heavy cooking equipment Scrub and degrease kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, and fryers Clean food preparation surfaces, cutting boards, and work tables Maintain and clean small kitchen appliances and tools Remove burnt-on food and grease from cookware Polish stainless steel surfaces and equipment

Kitchen Sanitation & Hygiene



Clean and sanitize all kitchen floors, walls, and surfaces Empty and clean garbage bins and recycling containers Maintain proper waste disposal and segregation procedures Clean and organize storage areas and walk-in coolers/freezers Sanitize food contact surfaces according to health regulations Follow HACCP guidelines and food safety protocols

Inventory & Supply Management



Receive and properly store kitchen supplies and equipment Maintain adequate levels of cleaning supplies and chemicals Organize and rotate cleaning supplies using FIFO method Report low inventory levels to supervisors Handle delivery of clean linens and uniforms Maintain cleaning equipment and report maintenance needs

Equipment Maintenance Support



Perform basic maintenance on dishwashing and cleaning equipment Report equipment malfunctions to maintenance staff Conduct daily equipment safety checks and cleaning Maintain cleaning chemical storage areas safely Ensure proper functioning of ventilation and exhaust systems Assist with deep cleaning and maintenance projects

Kitchen Support Operations



Assist kitchen staff during peak service periods Help with basic food preparation tasks when needed Transport supplies and equipment between kitchen areas Set up and break down kitchen stations as required Support special events and banquet operations Maintain organization of storage areas and dry goods
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ?20,000.00 per month
