As an Engineering Design Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and managing the design process for capital goods. This role requires expertise in both 2D and 3D designing, as well as a solid background in project management. Responsibilities: Design Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative design concepts for capital goods, considering functional requirements, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability. 2D and 3D Designing: Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to create detailed 2D and 3D designs, including layouts, assemblies, and component specifications. Design Optimization: Identify opportunities to enhance product design, performance, and efficiency through continuous improvement efforts. Technical Documentation: Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and bills of materials. Project Management: Manage the entire design process, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards. Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams, such as manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless execution of design projects. Supplier and Vendor Management: Collaborate with external suppliers and vendors to source components, materials, or specialized services required for the design projects. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them, ensuring smooth project execution. Testing and Validation: Oversee prototype development and testing activities to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in engineering design, project management methodologies, and relevant technologies. Requirements: Education: Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. Master\'s degree is a plus. Experience: 5 to 7 years of experience in engineering design, preferably in the capital goods industry. Design Skills: Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA), with a strong understanding of drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Project Management: Demonstrated experience in managing engineering design projects, including planning, resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder communication. Technical Knowledge: Sound knowledge of capital goods and manufacturing processes, including materials selection, structural analysis, and manufacturing constraints. Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify design issues, propose effective solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
