Job Brief

Underwriting reviewer is responsible for evaluating mortgage files as per applicable GSE/Government Agency selling guides and the Lender overlays. The Underwriter is responsible to determine if the risk covering the mortgage loan is permissible per guidelines and covered adequately with the collateral property. The transaction should also comply with all applicable Federal, State and Local regulations.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform end to end risk analysis of a loan file.
• Evaluate loan risk through verification of loan application.
• Maintain a thorough working knowledge of industry standards and guidelines.
• Reviewing & responding to loan conditions as necessary.
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
• Meet daily targets & all SLAs as communicated.

Requirements

• Graduate with 4 to 5 yrs of relevant experience.
• Hands on experience in mitigating risks on a loan file for at least 5 years.
• Good working knowledge of mortgage loan processing & relevant legal regulations.
• Good knowledge of identifying risks on a loan file.
• Knows/updated with prevalent US residential mortgage guidelines (loan qualification, eligibility requirements, etc.)
• Ability to review all the components required for the Underwriting review like credit review, asset review, collateral review, income review & other factors.
• Ability to interpret & action for any guideline changes.
• Should have working knowledge of underwriting government & conventional loans.
• Knowledge of standard mortgage nomenclature.
• Eye for detail, reporting, problem solving & timeliness.
• Problem solving ability by connecting the dots across the loan documentation.
• Good Verbal and written communication skills.
• Should have good analytical skills and have the ability to make decisions based on facts.
• Competent with MS office applications, LOS, LMS, Selling guide navigation.
• Willingness to work in nightshift.
