Caterpillar\'s Product Support and Logistics Division aims to provide fully integrated supply chain solutions to its worldwide network of production facilities and distribution centers.
Within this division, the EAME Transportation team is responsible for organizing shipments from our EAME supply base (+1.500 suppliers) to majority of our facilities in EAME (+25). This equates to about 150.000 shipments per year.
Caterpillar is looking for a Transportation Data Engineer who aims to further develop him/herself in a growing analytics team while closely collaborating with a team of transportation experts, located in Europe.
As a Transportation Data Engineer, you aim to combine different data sources, and transform them into business-oriented objects, tailored to specific transportation busines challenges and operations
These insights will be used by the broader European Transportation team and European factories (Facility Business Resources, Facility Supply Chain Managers, Material Planners, Material Buyers....) in their quest for answers to business related questions. These can be from an operational and/or financial nature, but always in one way or the other, linked to the Transportation activities. Thus, the Data Engineer will play a key role being part of the global team and contributing to the analytics journey of Caterpillar.
Key Job Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
End-to-end ETL processes, including Monitoring and analysis of information and data systems to evaluate their performance and discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.)
Data management in Oracle and Snowflake, including quality assurance, enforcing policies for effective data management, formulating management techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data
Creation of complex and efficient SQL queries to provide business users with key insights
Maintenance and creation of Power BI and Tableau dashboards
Required qualifications:
Master/Bachelor\'s level degree (in Computer Science or other disciplines, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Applications, Statistics, \xe2\x80\xa6) from a college or university, or equal qualification in experience
0-2 years of experience in a data engineering role
Hands-on experience with schema design and data modeling
Exposure to data pipeline tools within cloud-based environments
Knowledge of and familiarity with analytical warehouses
Advanced knowledge of SQL (experience with Oracle and/or Snowflake is a plus)
Strong experience with ETL processes, design, and principles
Experience with BI Tools (preferably Power BI or Tableau)
MS Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, Access)
Have excellent written and verbal communication in English
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of tools within Power Platform, mainly Power Automate and Power Apps
Experience with development on SharePoint Online
Experience with Alteryx
