Toast Capital is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toast, Inc. that offers Toast restaurant customers fast and flexible financing for any business need. The Toast Capital team is seeking a highly-motivated Toast Capital Underwriting Specialist I who will play an active role in originating transactions. The role entails working with customers to convert eligible restaurants into Toast Capital customers. In this role, you will be an ambassador of the Toast Capital brand and proliferate Toast Capital\'s goal to empower restaurants financially to thrive and do what they love. This individual\'s efforts will have a significant impact on the long-term success of a rapidly growing product for Toast. The ideal candidate will have experience in a financial institution with a lending background that has significant attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

About this roll* (Responsibilities):

• Apply established underwriting guidelines and policies to assess any potential risks in business during the application review and underwriting process.
• Process and review documentation requested during underwriting review, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Interact with loan applicants and business owners as needed to request additional information, clarify details, or address specific underwriting considerations, primarily through written communication
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines, and fair lending practices throughout the underwriting process

• 1-3 years of relevant commercial credit or loan processing experience
• Ability to work under pressure and strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail
• Highly organized, self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable
• Analytical mindset and creative problem-solving
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with Salesforce and Excel skills helpful
