OpenText is seeking a Threat Research Analyst, to support our Global Threat Research efforts. Team tasking varies between identifying, classification and remediation of new malware, while providing feedback to PM and development teams regarding efficacy-focused initiatives and improvements.

You are good at:

  • Deeply familiar with anti-malware technologies and have a deep knowledge of assessing threat indicators in a Windows environment, and anti-evasion techniques
  • Able to conduct threat hunting operations that deliver anomalous activity and potential adversary Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs)
  • Utilize proprietary tools and technologies and pattern matching skills to accurately identify emerging malware trends
  • Identify new malware distribution methods to improve product efficacy
  • Analyze information and develop methods of detection and removal of malware to improve current processes
  • Remote troubleshooting and diagnostic analysis for malware infections
  • Collaborate with PM and Development team on the definition of malware detection product enhancements and adjustments.
  • Serve as the leading point of contact to communicate and educate internal employees across all customer support locations on Webroot products
  • Write, review, and organize technical content (solutions) that will be published to the FAQs and Knowledge base for use by both internal and external customers
  • Perform testing functions to verify defect fixes and to assist the Quality Assurance team when needed
What it takes:
  • 3+ years of related security experience
  • Understanding of Windows file/folder structures for all current Windows Operating Systems and file access methods
  • Knowledge of the Windows Registry
  • Knowledge of Windows Security features, Windows Firewall, user privileges, etc.
  • Knowledge of network protocols (Eg. TCP/IP, UDP, SMTP, DNS, HTTP etc.)
  • Deep knowledge on assessing threat indicators in a Windows Environment (e.g. Malware/Malicious Anomalies/Abnormal Network Activity/Root Level Compromise, Forensic Artifacts, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Virtualization software
  • Malware Analysis (Behavioral and/or Static analysis- IDA, Cuckoo Sandbox, x86/x64 Debugging)
  • Experience in developing, refining, and performing advanced analysis to uncover new or potential incidents and report on results. Sigma/YARA etc.
  • An advanced understanding of current threats and trends present in the Information Security and Technology field.
