Threat and Intelligence Lead

Grade: SM

The Cognizant Corporate Security (CS) Global Security (GS) Team collaborates with other CS groups in the identification, research, development, and implementation of technologies that maintain a comprehensive global program for the proactive protection of proprietary information and other corporate asset.

The candidate will play a diverse, but central role, utilizing a combination of technical, analytical and professional skills primarily focusing on cyber intelligence and monitoring. In addition, the candidate will also work directly with internal stakeholders and other analysts to gather, interpret, analyze, and evaluate results from various data sources to identify improper use of company Intellectual Property and/or Proprietary Information. Assessments may include access control records and numerous other forms of network data traffic.

The candidate will be required to synthesize the technical data, correlate events, and evaluate trends into a non-technical report that provides meaningful insight for investigators and appropriate levels of Senior Management, internal stakeholders or external law enforcement. The candidate will assist in defining appropriate changes to Information Security policies, processes, and work instructions.

The Information Security Analyst will report directly to the Director/Sr.Manager of Corporate Security and Global Security and may interact with a wide variety of people, including physical security and other Information Security Analysts, Forensics Investigators, and Internal Investigators to complete assignments.

Responsibilities:

• Initiate, coordinate, and conduct research efforts regarding information security threats.
• Basic understanding of threat intelligence to follow up on Patch Management, Web & App security, Credential Leaks/Darkweb leaks.
• Good research skills, ability to use Open-Source Intelligence to gather online information aiding in tests such as shodan, censys, google dorks etc.
• Develop specific expertise in areas such as Insider Threat models, discern patterns of complex behavior, and provide an accurate understanding of present and future threats to company intellectual property.
• Apply highly developed inductive reasoning skills to provide a proactive approach to potential threats.
• Review and analyze content monitoring system incidents to identify, prioritize and report issues for review and correction. Identify, extract, analyze, and evaluate essential information
• Detect and investigate anomalous behavior that may indicate threats to Intellectual Property assets. Determine the significance, accuracy, and reliability of incoming information.
• Submit thorough summary reports of incidents, which require further investigation.
• Provide forensic analysis support to other internal teams in relation to incidents and investigations. Initiate, establish, and maintain effective working relationships inside and outside the immediate team to facilitate information gathering or support joint investigative efforts.
• Identify and evaluate lessons learned from internal intelligence to shape processes, work instructions, policies and best practice recommendations to reduce likelihood of incident recurrence
• Work in a team environment while maintaining confidentiality and operational security of information.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in information security, formal education and/or training, and prior experience in a law enforcement, military, or professional intelligence analyst position is desirable.
• Demonstrated strong organizational, writing and communication skills, and integrity and trustworthiness in previous work experience is essential, as is impartiality and objectiveness when evaluating facts and an ability to display sound judgment when deciding amongst several alternatives.
• Ability to rapidly adapt to changes in assignments and successfully multi-task.
• Excellent analytical skills, organizational skills, ingenuity and the ability to work as part of a team
• Experience writing security white papers and/or presenting on security topics
• Experience with breaking down highly technical concepts so the average lay person can understand the issues
• Enthusiasm for researching information security best practices with emerging technical issues such as protecting information in cloud environments, on mobile devices, on virtual machines, etc.
• Active participation in information security industry forums or other info-security leadership organizations.

• Ability to determine significance and reliability of incoming information.
• Knowledge on deep/dark and open internet intelligence tools like Anomali, Digital Shadows, and Intel 471
• Ability to integrate incoming information with current intelligence holdings to accurately assess risk
• Must possess the ability to handle pressure during times of crisis and high stress
• Must have formal education and/or training, and prior experience in a law enforcement, military, or professional intelligence analyst position. Experience in performing intelligence analysis is mandatory, preferably in a specific area related to the desired job.
