Primary Responsibilities
  • Drive Medical Strategy and Plans aligned with business and marketing for Oncology Portfolio; Support the pre-launch and launch for Oncology portfolio in India by contributing to therapeutic strategy for business, including evaluation of pipeline and portfolio.
  • Lead the Evidence Generation plan, based on research priorities and identified data gaps in alignment with Reginal and Local needs and consistent with the Brand Plan, and the overall product strategy
  • Lead identification of the scientific exchange needs of Key Opinion Leaders, investigators, public-policy makers and other stakeholders in Oncology, establishing strong professional relationships and enhance scientific reputation of Takeda externally in Oncology. Includes design and implementation of best-in-class scientific programs with external KOLs in alignment with CFTs
  • Ensure that appropriate medical governance, standards and policies are assured for all relevant technical aspects of the company\xe2\x80\x99s activities including review and approve all promotional material and activities.
  • Recruit, train and mentor medical affairs team in Oncology; effectively manage the performance of the team and conduct performance appraisal of the team members.
Responsibilities
  • Actively participates in cross-functional team working across the Medical, Compliance, Regulatory and Business, especially the Medical/marketing interface, to optimize the therapeutic area support.
  • Focus on HCP outreach programs \xe2\x80\x93 Design and implement medical educational program including collaboration for medical content with cross-functional team and strategize dissemination of therapy-related core scientific communication.
  • To be the repository of medical/clinical knowledge for the Company in the country; act as a key medical member in global and regional teams to liaise with the appropriate members of the global and regional franchise medical affairs function so as to facilitate migration and assimilation of clinical data, findings and trends.
  • Research and analyze trends and activity in the industry, updating own knowledge on a continuous basis in order to build awareness and understanding of Takeda products, therapy areas, and the pharmaceutical market in Hemat-Oncology, Oncology.
  • Build scientific relationship and network with KOLs, investigators, public policy makers and other stakeholders in Oncology TA, establishing strong professional relationships and enhance scientific reputation of Takeda external.
  • Work with KOLs and relevant public-policy stakeholders as partners in scientific activities that help advance disease understanding.
  • Create advisory board and clinical investigator base for products in Onco TA with the capability of providing expert medical advice and engage HCPs through various planned scientific activities and share emerging data in a reactive, scientific, objective and balanced way.
  • Driver of key strategic clinical studies that includes RWE for franchise to target unmet medical needs. Plan to include Investigator Initiated studies (IISRs), Collaborative Studies, Medical Affairs studies, and Health Economic and Outcome Research (HEOR). Follow through with investigators up to publication / presentation.
  • Contribute to the design and evidence gap analysis of clinical trials in the pursuit of competitive product advantage in collaboration with Clinical Team to create database of clinical outcomes.
  • Design and shares medical information and high-level educational scientific information and clinical guidelines with national KOLs (or as per HCP requests).
  • Ensure that activities in the Medical Affairs therapeutic area comply with standards for medical and clinical governance and duty of care within the business.
  • Provide comprehensive & effective medical training to field force in order to enhance sales force effectiveness in Oncology. Improve in-clinic efficiency of field force through query addressable and field coaching on scientific concerns; Analyze and provide information on HCP queries in support of field staff
  • Ensure that appropriate standards and policies are assured for all relevant technical aspects of the company\xe2\x80\x99s activities in the Medical Affairs and tasks in developing and using materials for activities planned based on code of conduct, corporate philosophy, relevant laws and regulations as well as SOPs and policies. Act as an Ambassador for Corporate Philosophy and Takeda-ism.
  • Review and approve all promotional material; medical and commercial activities including internal and external engagements such as CME; Scientific Symposium; Advisory Board etc. and ensure appropriate product claims are made.
  • Create and deliver balanced, fair non-promotional presentations related with advances in disease knowledge, diagnosis and treatment of competitor as well as own products.
  • Ensure that all activities in the business / therapy area comply with medical governance standards, regulatory requirements, Takeda\xe2\x80\x99s policies and duty of care.
  • To oversee coordination between Strategic Medical Affairs, Field Medical Affairs team, Public Affairs, Patient Services, Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs and Quality Assurance, for effective cross-functional collaboration.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • MBBS/MD is preferred.
  • >10-12 years of experience in biopharmaceutical medicine in Medical Affairs is preferred.
  • Experience in handling Medical team, working in cross-functional matrix structure.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles is preferred.
  • Experience in Oncology portfolio, including new product launches must.
