Job Summary Focus of the Role

As a Technical Project Specialist working in Technical Delivery, you will drive consistency and diligence across multiple mission teams in the handling of all things cost related. You will be a valued member of the team because you make management and understanding of cost performance progress simple for the mission team members to effectively deliver their objectives without taking away from their own execution expertise.

You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders and teams across different Network & Infrastructure Engineering technology platforms as you help guide them in structuring their execution plans for success. Your biggest asset will be your ability to understand the ins and outs of the project plan and provide actionable insights to the management team to ensure effective performance of the mission or group of missions.

Role Specific Accountabilities:

1. Drive the achievement of strict financial controls in the program/project using best practise techniques and Telstra processes and procedures
2. Provide cost control guidance and insight to project/program manager, which includes the production and interpretation of timely and accurate financial results, budgets, forecasts and Estimates To Complete (ETC)
3. Provide cost control guidance and insights to internal suppliers which includes the production and interpretation of timely and accurate financial results, budgets, forecasts and ETC\xe2\x80\x99s
4. Preparation and review of monthly reports, monthly forecasts and annual budgets following close liaison with all stakeholders
5. Facilitate and participate in financial reviews and health checks as required.
6. Assist the LOB Finance Manager and Commercial Engineering Investment Lead in the overall financial management and accounting tasks conducted within the program.
7. Assist and provide quality assurance on financial information within business case submissions
8. Ensure there is a clear cost baseline established for all projects within scope.
9. Work in collaboration with Project/Program Managers to drive consistency of the project cost control approach to facilitate accuracy in project execution and reporting.

As a Technical Project Specialist, you play an integral role in achieving remarkable results on technical integration projects, delivered on time, to budget and that achieve the project objectives and business outcomes. You apply your technical expertise in ICT infrastructure, integration and Telstra products with your exceptional project delivery skills to drive projects to their success.

You have mastered the art of synthesising complex specifications and technical requirements into project plans and outcomes, and in doing so you directly shape the success of Telstra\xe2\x80\x99s projects and therefore our business.

Generic Responsibilities

As a Technical Project Specialist, you draw on your breath of knowledge and expertise in delivering technical projects and knowledge in Telstra\xe2\x80\x99s infrastructure, networks and products to deliver the following responsibilities:

  • Recognised as a technical project delivery professional in the areas of ICT infrastructure, networks and products
  • Apply skill in technology integrations and products delivery to impressively lead components of technical projects delivering on time, to budget, achieving the intended outcomes whilst visualising the benefits and risks of a range of potential solutions.
  • Provide input into project delivery requirements (e.g. timeframes, milestones, resources required), using terrific analytical thinking to anticipate, uncover and resolve issues, to directly contribute to the management of their delivery workstream. This includes reporting on deliverables against the project plan and escalating unanticipated variations for approval
  • Use a range of techniques and channels of communication and authentically engage with external partners and project team members to meet technical specifications and services, to ensure the execution of project requirements.
  • Synthesise technical products, architectures and challenges into language that non-technical team members and stakeholders understand, in order to drive project outcomes and communicate energetically and effectively across a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Synthesises industry knowledge and trends into thought-provoking insights and solutions to deliver improve business and customer outcomes.
Significantly contribute to identify innovative opportunities for continuous improvement within the project team to generate and support initiatives to improve operational effectiveness, customer experience and/or Telstra\xe2\x80\x99s profitability
