Customer Documentation is a discipline that has been playing an increasingly significant role in many technical branches.

For the telecommunications industry, professional technical documentation is a crucial, integral element of every product that allows our customers to build, manage, and troubleshoot their network.

Our Business Group is a leader in wireless mobility networks and associated services. With more than 3.500 patent families essential for 5G we have a strong 5G portfolio and are a front runner in open and virtualized radio access networks (O-RAN and vRAN).

What you will learn and contribute to

We are looking for technical writers in the area of English language, communications, computer science, information technology, telecommunication (or an equivalent qualification) who would like to learn more, practice and gain real work experience on planning, designing, and executing items in own area.

You will work together with other customer documentation specialists, technical writers, and Subject matter experts, to create product documents for our global customers to be able to effectively operate their mobile networks.

As a technical writer with a good command of the English language and excellent writing skills, your technical interest as well as your information gathering skills will prove invaluable, as you work together with technical experts on complex products.

Your skills and experience

You have:

  • 5+ years in the Technical Writing in telecommunication industry
  • Hands-on experience with developing customer documentation
  • Must possess strong people and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of DevOps software development with a CI/CD methodology
  • Knowledge of documentation tools (Jira, Confluence, Oxygen, SVN/GIT etc.)
  • Experience in managing documentation schedules and deliverables for a complex technology
  • Experience with cross-site collaboration for content development
Skills:
  • Good understanding of the SDLC and DDLC, and Structured writing principles
  • Gather data from and work with PLM, R&D, and Test to ensure appropriate creation and timely delivery of technical publications to coincide with product release.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of cross-functional teams to develop information products associated with components or features of an assigned product
  • With limited guidance, develop information products for component or feature groupings for an assigned product that is a system or a complex grouping of units or features
  • Develop accurate documentation schedules and plans and adhere to them
  • Research, write and edit high-quality hardware/software customer documentation for Nokia products
  • Self-edit documentation with strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy completeness, usability, and style
  • Ability to understand end-user needs
  • Problem-solving mind and Creative thinking and initiative-orientation
  • Have an active and energetic attitude to cope with tight deadlines; be open to work independently, as well as in local and global (virtual) teams
It would be nice if you also had:
  • Experience using Linux / Python / CLI
  • HTML5 animations (Adobe Edge Animate)
  • Interactive presentations (Adobe Captivate)
  • Website coding skills - HTML5 / CSS3 and JQuery, making use of the latest techniques
  • Mastery in Photoshop, Corel Designer, Camtasia, and/or Adobe Illustrator
