The Role

The digital transformation strategy of Shell requires an increasingly flexible, agile and secure IT environment in order to enable best use of data, cloud services, personalization of user experience and connectivity of devices. This role will help delivery of digital enabled solutions that result in value to the customers and value to Shell, including commercial and reputational value. As a result, we are acquiring new energy companies and the Programme is called RESPC (Renewable Energy Solution Portfolio Companies) .This project seeks to onboard multiple New Energies companies which are non-integrated into Shell’s IT infrastructure environment with an intent of improving IT compliance. Accountabilities: The (Senior) Technical consultant will primarily support the assigned solution architect with delivery (document) of the RESPC company AS-IS Landscape, suggest transition architectures for moving from AS-IS to Shell’s standard TO-BE, addressing technical challenge areas and driving joint solutions with RESPCs and Shell’s segment architects. Ideal candidate has good knowledge (and hands on project experience) of the full IT Infrastructure stack and Technologies (both infrastructure and applications including Cloud Migrations) as well as a base understanding of Software Engineering toolset & processes and IT4IT tools. Experience in a DevOps role within cross-functional Agile delivery teams and experience working with both Ops and Development. Development of cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring. Understanding of the Shell’s IT Infrastructure services and processes will be an added advantage. Experience and knowledge of the full IT Infrastructure stack is required as the Technical Consultant will touch every layer in the stack.
More specifically, your principle responsibilities will include:
  • Work with design team to produce design meeting requirements based on Shell standards;
  • Develop deployment strategy and lead deployment including handover to operations by coordinating activities across suppliers, internal IT teams and business stakeholders;
  • Knowledge sharing and drive continuous improvement across the community.
For the services in scope:
  • Technical Consultant in a larger project with the accountabilities for support projects with design engineering capabilities under the renewed model.
  • Collect and document requirements by specifying the needed functionality, all the non-functional requirements and all dependencies (e.g. cabling, construction or electrical work needed);
  • Get a Shell standards-based design produced and signed off with the design team and design assurance team;
  • Work via design office with architecture & portfolio to update standards in specific cases
  • Develop a deployment and testing strategy which is aligned with business readiness and IT delivery timelines;
  • Lead the deployment by orchestrating all activities across multiple teams, consisting off: central IT delivery, local installation, local testing and business stakeholders;
  • Handover the deployed or changed services to operations;
  • Share knowledge obtained and learn from others as part of a natural team across architecture, portfolio, design, network engineers, technical consultants and operations and service management, amongst others.
Mandatory Skills:
  • Over all 13 – 17 years of experience
  • Any Graduate
  • Experience with the full end to end infrastructure stack
  • Experience with infrastructure heavy migration projects
  • Experience of producing high quality target and transitional design documents
  • Must be a good communicator
  • Must be analytic, able to bring structure and able to deal with complexity
  • Good at Taking ownership, Deliver on promises, Good stakeholder management
