Job Title Tech Lead, Database Administration

What does an PostgreSQL DBA do at Fiserv?

As an experienced member of our commercial center platform, you will be responsible for effective management and maintenance of databases part of projects & program under this group including professional services. Maintaining adherence to the database management policies and ensuring that these essential pieces of equipment are functional.

What You Will Do:

• Capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery.
• Work with application layer architects to implement DB best practices \xe2\x80\x93 Connection pooling, resource management, query performance tuning etc.,
• Review, set action plan and implement replication strategies.
• Implementing PostgreSQL database clusters with replication (repmgr/streaming)
• Upgrade DB instances from lower versions to current versions.
• Setup authentication of database roles
• Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors
• Assist with database design and development and tuning queries
• Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
• Design maintenance procedures and putting them into operation
• Manage database security/integrity and backup procedures
• Implement security measures
• Test and modify databases to ensure that they operate reliably
• Write disaster recovery plans
• Understand the requirement through difference source of information/documents available with the team.
• Assist Architect(s) in designing activities and estimation of the work required.
• Learning the best practices and the methodology used in the program and adhere to the standards.
• Adhere the processes followed for development in the program.
• Mentor/train existing and new team members.
• Identify and collaborate with all necessary stakeholders in order to come to terms or reach agreement in accordance with defined project goals with little to no assistance.
• Track progress against assigned tasks, report status, and proactively identify issues to the Product Owners, Architects and management team.
• Work successfully in a team environment and demonstrate a willingness to help team members in achieving their project goals if required.
• Personal ownership and accountability for delivering assigned tasks and deliverables within the established schedule.
• Report to the Project Manager on the status and progress of work and accountable to the timely completion with quality.
• Database migration

What You Will Need to Have:

• Experience in database administration or database architecture
• Solid hands on experience in all the tasks and activities mentioned in above section.
• Experience with Linux environment
• Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
• Unix shell scripting skills
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have an experience in retail banking domain.
