Job Description


OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

WHO India Country Office collaborates with the Government of India and relevant stakeholders within the framework of the collaborative Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS), to actively support the development and implementation of national health policies, strategies and plans aiming at promoting access to and utilization of affordable and quality health services and improving the financial protection against health-related risks.

Mission of the WHO Country Office for India

Within the framework of WHO\'s Country Cooperation Strategy the mission of the WHO Country Office is to support India in: (i) developing and sustaining its own health policies, health systems and public health programmes; (ii) working to prevent and overcome threats to health; (iii) anticipating future challenges; and (iv) advocating public health.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the overall guidance of NPO-Administrative Services, and direct supervision of the NPO-Administrative Support, the incumbent performs the following duties: * Assist in receiving, verifying and checking of all incoming consignments of office supplies against the Purchase orders.

  • Record all supplies in stock management system and maintain up-to-date records of inventories on day-to-day basis, including consumption, balance stock and timely placement of reorder of supplies.
  • Notify supervisors and assist in preparation of reports for goods delivered in a damaged condition or wrong quantities for initiating insurance claims or return of items.
  • Facilitate physical upkeep of various stores of administrative supplies, office ICT equipment, sundries etc., including storages of drugs and pharmaceutical products according to established methods.
  • Assist in issuance of office supplies, as per requisitions received, and assist in assembling/packing and dispatching of supplies for meetings and any stored drugs or pharmaceutical products, as per the specific instructions of the units.
  • Assign locations to all received goods and apply suitable storekeeping procedures and methods in arranging space. Organize proper storage of drugs/pharmaceutical products at appropriate temperature operating conditions.
  • Assist in identifying, segregating and reporting to supervisor on expired/obsolete items for disposal or any break-down of cold storage equipment.
  • Assist in timely processing of invoices of the received supplies and maintain complete records.
  • Provide back-up support in the absence of other office assistants of the unit.
  • Perform any other duties, as assigned by supervisors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary school education or equivalent.
Desirable: Training in secretarial practices or logistics.

Experience

Essential: At least three (3) years of experience in administrative work.
Desirable: Experience in storekeeping, inventory management in an international organization or UN system an advantage.

Skills
  • Must be able to classify any material received from storage to maintain records and to check supply requests.
  • Must be methodical in arranging stores and maintaining stock records with good filing skills.
  • Good knowledge of WHO rules, manuals, practices/procedures and routines is an asset.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at INR 724,723 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
