Working within Tax, your mission will be to drive value-added work and support our core retail business goals. Our tax team focuses on all aspects of tax reporting including enhancing productivity and efficiency of core compliance through process and technology, monitoring tax risk and opportunities across all tax disciplines, engaging and educating Finance and the broader organization regarding tax considerations, and prioritizing team resources to support key work streams. As a Tax Analyst in Sales Tax (United States), you will be responsible for assisting on various aspects of the sales and use tax function. This role primarily supports the sales and use tax compliance accounting, and audit processes which includes the preparation and review of sales and use tax returns, assisting with our tax accounting processes including general ledger account reconciliations, and gathering documents necessary to support our sales and use tax audits. As a Tax Analyst, you will work closely with Target business partners to collect and analyze financial data, assist with the preparation, documentation and review of tax workpapers and return filings, and request tax payments to ensure we are timely and accurately meeting our tax compliance obligations. Return filings include US state and local level sales and use taxes, fees and excise taxes. You will support our tax accounting and forecasting processes by preparing journal entries and validating data is successfully uploaded in SAP, performing account reconciliations, and preparing tax forecasts based on historical trends. In this role, you will leverage your sales tax expertise, communication skills, and business process knowledge while assisting Sr. Managers and Sr. Tax Analysts in Sales Tax with tax inquires. This includes responding to requests for tax exempt forms and resale certificates and preparing responses to tax authorities, external advisors, and financial statement auditors. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs. Requirements

  • 3/4 years degree or equivalent combination of professional education and experience.
  • Previous experience in US Sales tax with a public accounting firm or equivalent experience in a large corporate tax department is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate understanding of US GAAP accounting principles; CPA is preferred.
  • Experience with Vertex and SAP, or similar tax software and general ledger system, is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining appropriate prioritization and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized and efficient in work processes.
  • Strong technical skills, ability to work within multiple systems, and high proficiency with Microsoft applications. Experience in using data and analytical tools including Alteryx and data visualization tools is preferred.
