JOB PURPOSE: The Supply Network Operations Supervisor role is aligned to a grouping of similar processes that must be executed per volume, velocity, and quality requirements. This role is the primary leader for a group of individual contributors that perform assigned work. Accountable for personnel management and professional development, his or her functional responsibilities include execution of assigned processes, driving excellence in quality, cost, velocity, operations metrics monitoring, identifying and executing continuous improvement opportunities including standardization / simplification, and mitigating risks. Budget $500K Geographic Scope: Regional - 3+ sites Enterprise/Financial Impact: High Process Difficulty: Complex and Non-Standard Process System Expertise: Deep Volume (Transactions/Users): High Employee Count 20+ and Multiple Team Leaders (total employees) JOB DUTIES: Major Role: To supervise the ongoing operations, including individual contributor performance, planning and organizing teams, and the execution of assigned processes that produce consistent quality results. This role also manages workload and capacity, is a recognized expert for his or her assigned process area, and leads continuous improvement efforts. . They lead a team responsible for collaborating with the other functions in SPPD to perform operational execution, transactional activity, systems data maintenance reporting and their associated metrics monitoring Leadership: The incumbent works to integrate services, which have common objectives and assure the external coordination of those activities with other parts of the Strategic Procurement & Planning Division - Procurement Excellence. The incumbent resolves issues by building a collaborative environment based on process partner's needs through compliance to standards, PO management, supplier on/off boarding and providing a practical, technical or administrative service focusing on improved cycle times. Communicates and maintains a culture of open relationships with employees. Assists individual contributors and project leads in addressing concerns and determines/implements staffing levels for assignment completion. Participates in recruiting and screening routines for new employees. Assures employees are thoroughly trained in processes and business practices/policies. BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree - or equivalent experience required Minimum of 5-7 years job related experience Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g.; Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified in Integration Resource Management (CIRM), or comparable international certification is preferred. Affiliation with Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), or comparable professional purchasing organization, preferred. Proficiency in English is required; Local site language preferred Previous 6 Sigma Greenbelt/Black Belt experience preferred Facility with lean manufacturing, an understanding of lean principles is preferred Incumbent must have well-developed communication and negotiation skills Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO).
