About the Role
The Strategic Partnerships team, a division of Springer Nature's Commercial Partnerships business, provides publicly and privately funded institutions and corporations all over the world with highly effective solutions designed to further their goals of supporting and communicating the highest impact scientific discoveries and research excellence to a global research community.
The Strategic Partnerships Manager will proactively develop new business and grow strategic accounts in the institutional and corporate markets in South Asia with a key focus on India. They will predominantly be selling solutions including but not limited to thought leadership solutions, Nature Index products, Nature Masterclasses, Language and Scientific Editing, Sponsored Awards and Conferences, sponsored editorial supplements, webcasts, Nature Research Intelligence, Employer branding, recruitment and advertising solutions.
They will be targeting leadership positions and be responsible for driving commercial revenues through consultative selling; be perceptive to customers' needs and pain points and be adept at portfolio-selling at the highest, decision-making level.
Of additional importance is the ability to always manage an effective sales pipeline, convert opportunities and close deals in a timely manner.
Central to this is a collaborative approach to working across internal teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
? Meet/exceed revenue goals through consultative selling of a suite of solutions to senior decision makers at research-based non-corporate and corporate organisations in India, and rest of South Asia.
? Develop new business and grow relationships with senior-level key decision makers at academic, governmental and corporate organisations; deepen their understanding of key pain points and needs; craft and present tailored solutions based on existing suite of products and solutions.
? Work with sales leadership to develop and implement a strategic territory development plan that maximizes both near-term and long-term revenues.
? Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders in editorial, publishing, marketing, production and technology departments to ensure that solutions are executed on time, on budget and to the customer's full satisfaction.
? Liaise closely with members of other Commercial Partnerships and Springer Nature sales teams to ensure that customer relationships are fully leveraged for all revenue types.
? Attend industry events to build new customer relationships and cultivate existing ones; make on-site visits to prospective and in-person customers.
? Maintain accurate records of customer data, customer interactions and key opportunities on SalesForce.
? Provide regular sales performance reporting, forecasting and commentary for territory to sales management.
? Commit to continued self-learning, making use of all available tools.
? Undertake proactive business development in new markets
Experience and Skill requirements:
Experience
? Significant commercial experience, preferably within B2B environment.
? Proven track record of key account management and business development.
? Proven track record of exceeding sales quotas and winning large strategic deals.
? Sales experience in academic, non-profit, government sectors and corporate institutions, with senior decision makers.
? Experience in creative, consultative solutions selling, managing a wide range of stakeholders.
? Experience of media sales/client marketing solutions
? Experience of selling a wide portfolio of digital, print and offline products, including sponsored awards and conferences.
? Experience in CRM systems such as SalesForce.
Skills and Knowledge
? Deep familiarity with the global and regional academic and research marketplace.
? Strong personal presence and influencing skills; ability to quickly establish rapport and productive relationships with senior-level institutional and corporate executives.
? In-depth understanding of the scientific publishing process.
? Understanding of structures and decision-making process within academic institutions and corporations.
? Knowledge of CRM systems best practice.
? Proficient public speaking and presentation skills.
? Ability to collaborate within a complex team environment to execute commercial projects.
? Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship building skills.
? Fluent English language skills
? Proven ability to achieve sales quotas.
? Willingness to travel within territory for client meetings and events.
