Main Tasks

• Organizing all research related storage rooms in Campus. Including the chemical inventory, lab consumables, solvents, lab instruments & spare parts, sample storage
• Receiving and storing new chemicals according to their individual storage classes
• Stay up to date regarding chemical storage rules & regulations, ensuring that required permits are available (supported by EHS Manager Campus)
• Accountability and responsibility of materials in stores, to always ensure a good overview of all the inventory through good recordkeeping standards
• Reviewing the Open GR/IR data, whenever demanded by Finance Team
• Acquiring licenses for storage and procurement of chemicals (wherever required)
• Network with global chemical storage community within BASF to exchange best practices
• Replenishing of general stock items
• Maintaining and updating a chemical data base to keep track of all lab chemicals in Campus (Inventory Software)
• Issuing lab chemicals from stock to chemists, updating data base
• Troubleshooting for any errors in the Inventory database, coordinating with the server support team in Germany as well as with the vendor to ensure optimum performance of the software
• Receive lab chemicals back from chemists, check with labs to return chemicals which are not in use and organize disposal of the chemicals
• Leading storage personnel (team of two members) for issuing/receiving chemicals, cleanliness of storage rooms
• Advising employees in Mumbai/India in correct sample storage
• Training of chemists in correct usage of lab chemical data base
• Keeping track of the consumption of the common lab consumables
• Setting up SOPs for wherever required
• Keeping track of the restricted chemicals and sending consumption report to government department (license issuer)
• Develop subordinates in line with their capabilities and aspirations
• Responsible for logistics with adhering to all transportation norms
• Overall ensuring smooth interface between various departments - procurement, logistics, EXIM team, finance, EHS, operations team and Legal team, to ensure smooth functioning of storage, inventory management and logistics activities at BCIPL R&D

Educations and Working Experience (Qualification):

• Scientific background (BSc or MSc in chemistry) with preferred experience in logistics / supply chain / sample storage management, confectioning, warehouse experience
• Preferable knowledge of process automation
• Good English in writing and speaking
• Team player with focus on result and achievement
• Highly responsible work attitude
• Good communication skills
