Storage & Backup Administrator

Are you a Bangalore based Storage & Backup Administrator who wants to work remotely (for the moment and but be mainly office based in the future) to provide consulting services with Pythian to a global client base? The ideal candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of storage & backup infrastructure and experience in architecting and supporting storage and backup solutions for customers. Hands on experience on DELL EMC and NetApp SAN, NAS and Unified storage systems. Extensive knowledge on backup and replication products including DELL Avamar, VMware VDP and Veeam. Able to lead in storage and backup infrastructure and capacity assessments solution design and implementation. What will you be doing?

• Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Backup
• Install, upgrade, and configure Avamar, VMware VDP and Veeam server and clients.
• Setup and administer Storage Units and storage devices, Data Domains and Basic Disks.
• Manage Virtual Machine and NDMP backup types in different backup products.
• Monitor daily backup jobs and troubleshoot missed and failed backup jobs.
• Resolve complicated backup performance and failure issues quickly to account/customer satisfaction and Prepare RCA.
• Perform restores for various type of data in case of data loss as per customer requirement.
• Storage
• Configure and manage enterprise-class storage solutions, DELL EMC VNX, VNXe and Unity300 and NetApp 8040.
• Advanced working knowledge of FC SANs and associated components including FC network, FC switches and proficient in FC switch configuration and upgrades.
• Perform zoning and masking at storage and Fiber switch level and configure of hosts with redundant paths.
• Monitor storage hardware health and perform hardware replacements.
• Manage storage allocation requests at SAN and NAS level.
• Administer NFS and CIFS volumes and share.
• Install and configure backup storage systems including DELL EMC Data Domain, QNAP and Seagate NAS systems.

What do we need from you?

• Skills Requirement:
• In-depth knowledge on DELL EMC and NetApp storage product line.
• Strong knowledge of all backup solutions and concepts such as Policy types, Retentions and DD duplication.
• Good knowledge of Storage Pools, RAID groups, LUN masking and zoning.
• Must have the aptitude and the interest to work in a variety of technologies.
• Creative person who looks for new and innovative ways to resolve problems.
• Provide operational support on a 24x7 rotation basis.
• Strong demonstrated work ethic with clear focus on customer success.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience on storage and backup design and administration.
• Key skills:
• Storage: DELL EMC VNX, VNXe3200, Unity300, Data Domain and NetApp 8060, NetApp 2750.
• Backup: Avamar, VMware VDP, Veeam

Education/Qualifications/Trainings Requirements: * Education: UG -Any Graduate - Any Specialization

• Certification in EMC Storage and Symantec NetBackup
