SUMMARY:

As a Storage and Backup Administrator, you will support, certify, and document storage and backup infrastructure, as well as serve as a Level 2 and Level 3 escalation point for existing infrastructure. This position expected to interact with Systems, Database, Engineering, Asset Management, Product Development, Operations, Audit and Risk, and various groups within Technology. This role must have strong communication and analytical skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the ongoing maintenance, security, and availability of Storage and SAN infrastructure based on business requirements and adhering to tight operations, security, and procedural models
• Responsible for complex provisioning, advanced maintenance, data replication, disaster recovery, data migration and documentation for our Open Systems Storage and Backup environments
• Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise to support complex Storage & Backup devices, including SAN, NAS and Backup solutions across all tiers, under minimal supervision
• Operate in complex, highly-secure, highly-available, operations-centric datacenter environments and interact with other technology domain experts as required, to build and maintain the Open Systems Storage and Backups solutions in those datacenter environments
• This position requires a candidate with strong hands on technical Administrator professional with business acumen
• Responsible for mentoring junior team members, developing ITIL procedures and best practices standards
• Work with other Disciplines to develop Infrastructure Building Blocks based Reference Architectures and standards that can be offered as services to our customers
• This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual, with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Candidates will possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and have experience working in large enterprise operational environments
• Assist in change management processes
• Improve the efficiency and help standardize current processes
• Respond to and resolve incident and problem tickets
• Document and thoroughly understand the application architecture, system configuration across platforms and interface with various systems and use this knowledge effectively to resolve issues
• Work closely with customer support team to communicate the root cause of the outage, duration and recommendations or steps to resolve issues
• Participate in Service Improvement Meetings after an application outage
• Respond to general inquiries
• Document the incident in the tracking tool
• Vendor contact for routine, documented incidents as well as operational problems
• Provide assistance as required in analyzing the trends and suggesting long-term and short-term improvements
• Resolve incidents and problems in accordance within defined guidelines and meet operational level agreements
• Implement change requests and meet project deliverables within defined guidelines
• Achieve and understand Service Level commitments for all open systems platform.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and provide guidance to nonexempt personnel.

JOB COMPLEXITY:

Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven hands-on storage engineering and administration, particularly for Dell EMC Isilon & Dell EMC Unity
• Relevant professional certifications

• EMCSA or better for Dell EMC Isilon
• EMCSA or better for Dell EMC VNX or Unity * Deep understanding of authentication and file sharing protocols (e.g., AD, KERBEROS, LDAP, SMB, NFS)
• Solid understanding of networking
• Hands-on experience with migration toolsets such as robocopy, emcopy, and others
• In-depth knowledge and 6+ years of experience in Dell EMC Data Protection product suites
• Knowledge desired on module backup such as Oracle, SQL, NDMP and VADP over Networker or Avamar , Power Protect, IDPA and DPA custom report config
• Performance Tuning, Cloning configuration, troubleshooting, Staging, Media Management, Disaster Recovery and new device provisioning in production.
• In Depth Knowledge on Avamar and/or Networker, IDPA, PPDM, CR. Modules like databases, VM backups, Data Domain, Tape Libraries. Solid knowledge on backup and restore skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Degree from college or university and at least five years related experience. or Diploma and at least eight years of related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, associates, customers, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
