to join our kitchen team. The steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, washing dishes and utensils, supporting kitchen staff with basic tasks, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations behind the scenes.
Key Responsibilities:
Wash and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, cutlery, and dishes.
Clean and maintain kitchen work areas, including floors, walls, sinks, and food preparation surfaces.
Properly handle and store cleaning supplies and chemicals according to safety standards.
Dispose of garbage and kitchen waste in a safe and sanitary manner.
Assist chefs with basic kitchen tasks such as peeling, chopping, or food preparation when required.
Ensure all dishwashing and storage areas are organized and clutter-free.
Operate dishwashing machines and ensure correct temperatures and chemicals are used.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and refrigerators.
Report any broken or damaged equipment to the supervisor.
Support the kitchen and service teams during busy periods as needed.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a stewarding or kitchen helper role is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.
Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced, and physically demanding environment.
Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene (HACCP knowledge is a plus).
