Job Description

A steward job involves maintaining cleanliness, organization, and customer satisfaction in hospitality, maritime, or event settings. Key duties include cleaning and sanitizing kitchen and dining areas, washing dishes, assisting servers and chefs, and ensuring guest needs are met, such as setting tables and refilling drinks. The specific tasks vary by role, ranging from basic support in a kitchen to managing data in a corporate environment. Common steward responsibilities

Cleaning and sanitation:

Maintaining cleanliness in kitchens, dining areas, and other operational spaces, as well as ensuring dishwashing operations meet food safety standards.

Kitchen support:

Assisting kitchen staff by organizing supplies, unloading deliveries, and helping with basic food preparation.

Dining area assistance:

Setting up tables, stocking supplies like cutlery and condiments, and clearing tables for the next guests.

Customer service:

Greeting guests, taking drink orders, refilling glasses, and addressing guest needs to ensure a positive experience.

Inventory management:

Stocking and monitoring the inventory of supplies such as napkins, cutlery, and cleaning equipment.

Other duties:

Performing tasks assigned by a supervisor, such as answering phones, taking reservations, and removing garbage.
