is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dishwashing areas. This includes cleaning dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and ensuring proper waste disposal. The steward plays a vital role in supporting the kitchen and F&B teams by ensuring a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using manual or automatic dishwashing equipment.
Clean kitchen equipment, floors, walls, and work surfaces according to hygiene standards.
Ensure proper segregation and disposal of kitchen waste and recyclables.
Replenish clean utensils, cutlery, and cookware in their designated areas.
Assist in setting up kitchen stations and restocking items as needed.
Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and efficiently.
Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
Follow all health and safety regulations and maintain high levels of hygiene (HACCP standards).
Support chefs and service staff with basic back-of-house duties as required.
Keep the dishwashing and kitchen area organized at all times.
Requirements:
No formal education required; basic knowledge of kitchen cleaning preferred.
Previous experience in stewarding is a plus but not mandatory.
Understanding of hygiene, sanitation, and safety procedures.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Physically fit and capable of standing for long hours and lifting heavy items.
Team player with a positive attitude.
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
