Job Description


: The key responsibilities for the role is to deliver consistently exceptional results for all in-scope Systems across the following areas: 1. MYService Ticket Management Follow processes and attend to all MYService tickets relating to systems software within SLA and include: . Attend to all MYService requests relating to systems software within SLA and include: . Incidents Changes Problem Reports Service Requests . Represent Incidents and problems when and as they occur. Provide Support to our customers and to the Database Administrators where required . Follow technical workflow tools and process, such as Service Desk call logging and Change Management . Assist with troubleshooting of environments that are connected to the Operations environments, as well as support testing that is required when upgrading/ improving the environment . Coordinate & Lead investigations into incidents and participate in crises teams set up to address high priority incidents . Review improved/ better ways to automate repetitive Service Management process . Build technology which assists customers with \'self help\' interfaces into the Databases to improve delivery . Recommend new and improved ways to address repetitive tasks more efficiently . Lead cross team engagements and ensure that the broader picture is taken into account when leading trouble-shooting . Engage vendors to achieve solutions that address root cause in the respective environments . Coordinate different Business Units and stakeholders to negotiate the most suitable Change window with minimum business impact 2. Monitor systems and alerting . Oversee and support automation that is installed on the Production systems to: . Proactively perform incident detection and to ensure interruptions are minimised, and maximum availability is maintained . This includes automation and monitoring of batch/ ad hoc jobs that are run on the systems, as well as server performance monitoring, Database performance monitoring, and disk sub system performance monitoring . Proactively review the monitoring trends on a regular basis and coordinate team efforts to refine and improve the monitoring and alerting . Ensure that any gaps within the monitoring are addressed and closed down appropriately . Proactively review any technical opportunity to automate activities that are currently manually undertaken and propose improvements . Deep understanding of the monitoring tools to meet business requirement 3. Consulting Services . Collaborate with ES Architecture and Design to review, comment and implement recommendations . Perform software capacity reviews . Enforce software standards, and support developers . Provide Project Support to all new systems being developed for the Business . Read up on future technologies that may be pertinent to the current technology stacks and which could lead to giving CBA the technological advantage, and provide cost savings . Provide Operational views and standpoints on solutions and designs provided by Infrastructure Services under guidance from more senior DBA\'s in the area . Provide and document standards that are pertinent to each area 4. Support CBA\'s Systems Software environments . Perform daily Health checks on the systems undertaken - ensure performance and availability of all Database Management systems are in place for the upcoming day . Ensure all data managed under the DBMS is backed up and recoverable to any point in time . Perform recoveries refreshes imports/ exports of data on request . Install, maintain, configure databases and associated services on an ongoing basis . Support and Maintain the Database versions and maintenance levels within guidelines provided by our vendors . Perform and direct performance and tuning activities on the Databases . Manage database security and controls around privileged access . Enforce Databases standards across databases . Identify and recommend tools associated with databases. This could be in the form of purchased products or in house written products . Provide technical direction and advice to all of the Database Administrators on all aspects of running Databases for that particular technology across the organisation . Display competency in Risk & Audit Management and work effectively with various audit teams 5. Reporting & Feedback . Provide updates on a daily basis for all of the work performed which is input to the monthly Productivity statistics . Attend weekly technical meetings and provide feedback on activities retrospectively . Review reports coming into the area with a view to applying continuous improvement to improve the experience of our customers . Provide Recommendations on evaluations on aspects of Databases and associated tools to management and other interested parties where necessary 6. Operational Standards & Technical Service Acceptance . Drive excellence in Database Operational Standard Operating Procedures to ensure that availability of Services for both Production and Non Production Databases are maintained at the highest levels 7. Training and Education . Attend to the required training and education to ensure that your skillset on supporting Databases on the platform technology that appropriate . Actively mentor and coach Database administrators in the area and external to the area. This could be providing seeking advice/ Consultation from areas like DEA and Infrastructure Support. . Read up on new technologies with a view to improving CBA\'s processes and technology in the Database area 8. Vendor Management & Vendor Support . Manage the service provider (DXC) with deployments of hardware, software and operating system upgrades to minimise the Bank\'s exposure to possible technical obsolescence, within the agreed CBA architectural guidelines and standards . Engage with associated vendors to ensure product knowledge is maintained within the team . Drive the Service Provider/s where required on activities required to be carried out for the area ie Incidents Problems Service Requests and changes 9. Technical Documentation . Write as well as follow and enforce documented procedures when dealing with any systems that are being worked on . Ensure that where applicable documentation is updated to reflect the correct operating procedures under guidance from a more senior Database Administrator Database Support Administration Outcomes The position is also responsible for the following team management outcomes: Contribute to and maintain a highly collaborative and high performance culture within the team and also with key partners such as L2 Operations and Service Delivery Management teams. Develop, maintain and continually improve internal processes and tooling required to perform above activities. Provide, analyse and respond to business performance metrics to continually optimise business performance Proactively seek customer requirements, gear delivery to meet expectations with regular checkpoints. Your experience : Specialist knowledge of Platform Systems Software management processes and architecture Marked ability to communicate and articulate technology discussions in relation to Databases at both technical and business levels. A Minimum of 8 years\' experience as a Platform Software Engineer Expert knowledge and experience in supporting & maintaining Systems Software In depth Knowledge and experience in Systems Maximum Availability frameworks Thorough understanding of Software performance analysis and tuning / capacity planning / query optimization Extensive experience with building & supporting the latest versions of Systems Software Environments is required Detailed experience in writing Shell Scripting, Linux, Unix, Windows Thorough experience with Systems Software Performance monitoring & Automation tools Your qualifications : IT qualification or relevant work experience ITIL Certified/ Platform Relevant Certified/ certified professional If you\'re already part of the Commonwealth Bank Group (including Bankwest, x15ventures), you\'ll need to apply through to submit a valid application.
