Work Location : Bangalore / Hyderabad / Mohali / Pune

The Mobile team at Zscaler is responsible for developing a cross-platform client application for Windows, MacOS, Android, IOS and Linux, to securely steer endpoint traffic to Zscaler cloud. You will be the Linux programming domain expert on this team and bring your endpoint software development experience to the team. You will ideally have worked on a VPN client or like client application and understand the intricacies of multi-version multi-platform client apps. This is a technical leadership position, you will be involved in all aspects of product development lifecycle - requirements discussion/analysis, design, scope estimation, planning, implementation, code reviews and unit testing, documentation, POCs, deployment and continuing engineering.

We are hiring a full time Linux Development Engineer to join the mobile engineering team. You will be building products that secure Linux Desktop, devices, applications, and data. This is a very visible, key role within our engineering group.

Primary Responsibility:

• Research Linux platform, distro relations, and its security
• Develop and maintain Linux applications and frameworks
• Work with product managers to translate the product requirements to technical requirements.
• Translate designs and mock-ups into high quality code
• Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer escalations

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experiece in C / C++ programming and Linux Software development
• Experience with PKI, Network Security technologies and protocols
• Good Knowledge in Linux Kernel / Internals is needed
• Understanding of debugging tools and profilers e.g. gdb, valgrind etc
• Knowledge of UI Frameworks e.g. X11, GTK or Qt on Linux will be a plus
• Experience with test driven development approach
• Strong experience and understanding of Socket Programming
• Strong knowledge of UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
• Knowledge of the open-source ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks

Desired skills :

• Experience implementing VPN, firewall type solutions
• Experience in security industry
• Worked on platform-level component specific to Linux
• Experience or familiarity with system level programming
