We are seeking an ambitious, dedicated, and self-motivated individual, who will serve as a Sr. Staff Software Architect on our highly skilled system architecture team and help us build the next-generation software platform for our current and future portfolio of analytical and lab informatics applications. As a Sr. Staff Software Architect in Thermo Fisher Scientific\'s Chromatography and Mass-Spectrometry Division (CMD), you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build our architectural roadmap, to grow our technology capabilities and to enable customer-facing solutions. Besides working across all functions and business partners within our organization, you will collaborate with corporate IT and business leadership, data analytics and security groups. You will provide outstanding technical design and thought leadership to our organization. You will lead efforts to assemble and share best-practice knowledge among our engineering and architecture community. You will be accountable for contributing, maturing, and implementing our architecture practices, standards, and review processes to enable our technical strategy while minimizing risk.

What will you do?

• Contributes to organization-wide technology, application, and data architecture direction and long-term vision, guiding principles, and decision making
• Assesses future business capability needs against the system architecture and leads strategic architecture decision making to meet those needs
• Proactively collaborates with other architects, information security, product owners, and business strategists to design and communicate an innovative, secure, and cost-effective architecture that enables continuous delivery of business value
• Be hands-on in designing, coding, and testing of technical solutions
• Leads architecture reviews; ensures that proposed solutions conform to architectural direction, standards, and requirements
• Analyzes technical debt and identifies proactive solutions to manage and reduce technical debt
• Researches technology trends and evaluates options and implications of these trends on the architecture of our software ecosystem
• Guides opportunities for technology evaluations and selectively participates in evaluations and prototyping.

How will you get here? Education: Bachelor or Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.) Required Experience

• 10+ years of experience across multiple technologies with well-rounded background in architecting distributed software solutions and delivering technical infrastructure and services in large-scale environments with focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Experience in technical leadership roles, influencing a wide mix of stakeholders
• Experience in working in agile environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a consistent track record to interact effectively across all organizational levels, and explain/influence technical concepts clearly and concisely to multiple layers of peers and leadership
• Strong background in implementing software security standards
• Strong hands-on experience with major programming languages
• Expert level knowledge and hands-on experience in REST & GraphQL APIs, microservices architecture on Kubernetes, modern web component frameworks, such as Stencil and Vue.js
• Experience with AWS (preferred) or other cloud services
• Knowledge of protocols such as gRPC, MQTT
• Basic knowledge in GPU-accelerated computing

Optional Qualifications

• Experience with architecture visualization frameworks such as C4
• Experience with building FDA-regulated products
• Experience with industry-relevant standards such as OPC-UA
