The opportunity:

The Sr. Principal Software Architect will be a member of the Enterprise Architecture team of Enterprise Engineering portfolio which is responsible for defining architectural vision and governance.

The Sr. Principal Software Architect will have the leading role in defining and governing the architectural vision for the OpenText Enterprise Engineering portfolio, in alignment with the overall architectural vision for the Opentext Enterprise Engineering. The work will include defining and executing a program to transform the current applications, working with product managers, product development teams, EA peers, and the SVP of Engineering.

You are great at:

  • Collaborate with the SVP Engineering, Chief Architect and members of the Enterprise Architecture team to define and govern the overall architectural vision for the OpenText Enterprise Engineering portfolio.
  • Work with globally distributed product development, professional services and operations teams to define and implement system architectures within the enterprise architecture plan
  • Interact with product development teams working in an Agile environment to provide architectural governance and consulting
  • Communicate the architecture in writing and presentations, internally and externally
  • Design and implement targeted R&D projects to prove out new technologies or architectural strategies
  • Collaborate with product management and business development on strategic initiatives and due diligence activities
  • Function as a senior technical consultant on high-priority projects or initiatives
What it takes:

The ideal candidate will possess deep technical skill in software architecture and cloud computing as well as very strong written and public communication skills. The ideal candidate should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.
  • Required:
  • Extensive experience with Java-based server-side development technologies
  • Experience architecting solutions within a large-scale service-oriented architecture
  • Bachelor\'s degree with 10+ years\' experience in designing highly scalable distributed systems
  • Demonstrated ability to architect highly available, high-volume transaction and messaging systems based on open systems hardware and software
  • 5-7 years of experience as an application/services architect in the service sector
  • 3+ years of experience designing/architecting horizontally scalable, multi-tenant web applications delivered in a SaaS (software as a service) model
  • 7+ years of experience building enterprise scale, highly available, Java applications
  • 7+ years of experience building enterprise applications with relational database technologies, preferably Oracle
  • 5+ years working with product managers and/or line of business professionals to architect business solutions
  • Proven ability to design for security, reliability
  • Proven ability to architect and design solutions that can be extended through the use of web services (both SOAP and REST)
  • Familiar with Linux, Oracle RAC, Java Ecosystem and Virtualization Technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must. Past experience writing and publishing technical whitepapers desirable.

  • Experience working in a DevOps environment
  • Experience architecting complex web applications involving federated security, extensive data entitlements, and global distribution
  • SaaS Architectural knowledge gained from multiple SaaS implementations
