The role of a Software Engineer II at Uber involves designing, developing, and maintaining services and solutions that support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools across the organization. They work on backend/data/machine learning aspects, focusing on building robust distributed systems to handle infrastructure challenges and enhance security and privacy. The role requires collaboration across teams, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to the hiring process by setting high standards.

- What You Will Do -

Writes reliable, clear, efficient, and well-tested code. Designs systems by re-using existing solutions, building new ones when needed, and considering future needs. Delivers results efficiently, manages tasks well, solves problems, and takes responsibility. Builds strong relationships, respects others, and resolves conflicts constructively. Improves efficiency by identifying and fixing problems in Uber's technology and teams. Contributes to a positive work environment and the broader tech community.

- What You Will Need -

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Go, C++, etc. Deep understanding of computer systems, which may include experience with backend services, large-scale systems, multi cloud infrastructure, etc. Ability to contribute to technical innovation and problem-solving within a team setting. 4+ years of experience as a software engineer and building large-scale distributed system Experience in architecture design and developing high availability and high-performance systems.
