Microsoft\'s Silicon team builds custom silicon for Microsoft\'s innovative hardware products including Microsoft Xbox, HoloLens. Central to our mission is a highly programmable data processing chip (DPU). As part of the verification team, you will be responsible for independently creating leading edge constrained-random verification environments and using them to drive functional correctness of innovative designs. Design Researches new tools, technologies, or methods for project implementation and provides recommendations to project team members as to which tool is appropriate. Gathers information and participates in make-versus-buy decisions based on complexity, financial impact, quality, reliability, and time duration. Displays knowledge in a specific engineering domain and acquires advanced knowledge of industry trends, competitor products, the customer experience, and advances in various engineering fields. Shares knowledge with others on their team. Creates designs and verification plans for the hardware engineering aspects of moderately complex and defined products or features. Participates in creating intellectual property. May file patents within own area of scope and completes necessary patent documentation. Implements or recommends technical solutions to moderately complex quality and design challenges, and provides guidance to other team members. Uses performance instrumentation and presents results to team and architects. Writes a component of performance simulators and creates spreadsheets to derive microarchitecture trade-offs. Evaluates impact of software optimizations. Testing and Verification Identifies test equipment required to execute a test plan. Defines standard practices to write complete design verification test cases/test benches. Writes moderately complex test cases, test benches, automation. Executes test plans for moderately complex feature areas or products. Develops coverage and process in the outsourced testing plans that defines the format of the content to be reported by the external supplier or partner. Writes tests for formal pre-silicon verification across subsystems within a single block includes the use of simulation and emulation tools, as well as tests for signal integrity, to prevent bugs/failures before production. Uses data/statistical analyses to identify complex problems or flaws that may affect a feature or product design change. Identifies possible solutions and brings them to the attention of other engineers or team leads. Develops prototype components for use in validation of new product features with minimal guidance. Project Implementation Contributes input to a single project implementation schedule to deliver the hardware engineering aspects of a moderately complex feature or product. Escalates issues to management as necessary. Reviews third party intellectual property data sheets against requirements. Makes external supplier or partner recommendations in support of product development. Reviews available external supplier or partner products to make external supplier or partner recommendations in support of product development. Identifies common project risks (e.g., external supplier or partner delays, incomplete specs, or tool issues) at the outset of a project, and develops plans to address those risks. Communicates project progress/status within the project team (e.g., to customers and partners) and escalates issues as necessary. Reporting and Documentation Develops training materials, documents, and templates. Delivers training for a single product. Reads and contributes to writing device specification sheets interprets complex details required to design various hardware features. 5+ years of related technical engineering experience or bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field and 2+ years technical engineering experience or internship experience or master\'s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field and 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience or internship experience. preferred qualifications 8+ years technical engineering experience or bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field and 5+ years technical engineering experience or master\'s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field and 3+ years technical engineering experience or doctorate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field knowledge of risc architecture, cpu design, coherency and arm peripherals 5+ years of rtl design and/or architecture experience. experience in development of complex socs. in depth understanding of processors and peripheral interconnect bus protocols and architectures high performance (low latency, high bandwidth) design techniques understanding of low power microarchitecture techniques. knowledge of verilog, system verilog, synthesis and static timing analysis.
