About India Engineering Center

India Engineering Center (IEC) is part of the global product development and engineering organization of Johnson Controls. Employing over 1400 engineers from multiple engineering discipline and specialization, we are spread across Pune, Mumbai and Gurgaon. We work in the product development space which ranges from core mechanical design, automation integration, development of embedded electronic components, software design and development, cloud application, machine learning and data science applications.

What you will do

You will be responsible for providing IP analytics and invention harvesting support to Engineering and Research functions of Johnson Controls. Along with this, you will support in developing the patent search and analysis practice.

How you will do it

• Assisting global attorneys and external partner firms by providing search results for different type of patent searches
• Conduct patentability searches for newly filed invention disclosures.
• Conduct Invalidity searches with the assistance of global litigation counsel.
• Conduct clearance searches based on request from product IP counsel.
• Conduct Evidence of Use searches for identifying enforcement opportunities and guiding prosecution strategy
• Develop patent protection strategy for marquee projects through landscape analysis/ competitive analysis.
• Primary focus on electronics and mechanical projects.
• Work with inventors at India Engineering to identify potential patentable features and assist them invention disclosure drafting & submission.
• Claim chart preparation for key products. Reviewing work products of junior team members, and mentoring team members for patent search and analysis
• Lead process improvement efforts to increase efficiency and deliveries

• B.E / B. Tech \xe2\x80\x93 Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Electronics/Computer Science/BSc/MCA/BCA.
• 6 to 9 years of patent searching/analytics experience at in-house or leading LPO/KPOs.
• Good understanding of patent classifications, database, search tools and methodologies.
• Excellent understanding of US, EP, and India patenting laws.
• Good understanding of basic engineering concepts.
• Communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 oral & written.
• Ability to handle multiple deliverables & ensuring timely delivery.

• Certification in patent searching and analysis
• Domain Knowledge in building management systems and HVAC products
