Job Description


Job Purpose (Job Summary): As part of the Investment Services Tax team, Fund Tax Accountant will be a key member of the Tax operations part of GFS team located in Hyderabad, India. The qualified candidate will be responsible for preparing/reviewing various Tax documentations and performs all the task of processing the daily BAU as per the standard operating procedure.

The forms may need to be filed before the dividend/interest is received to obtain relief at source or after the dividends/interest are paid to receive a reclaim/refund of the taxes paid. The filing requirements are different for each country.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Prepare and review tax documents required for reclaims and relief at source
  • Monitor the application of the correct withholding tax as per rules
  • Ensure that reclaims are filed timely; create a calendar based on fund holdings.
  • Act as a reference point for the tax team members and train/guide them through the daily activities.
  • Collect, analyze Tax information and documentation, and ensure complete review of the tax documentation.
  • Close monitoring of the reclaim status through reconciliation
  • Create and maintained metrics for management reporting.
  • Work closely with regional representatives of the funds.
  • Liaisons with sub-custodian, tax advisor and tax authorities as needed
  • Maintain historical documentation.
  • Create country specific data on foreign tax reclaims.
  • Clear backlog of forms on file.
  • Participate in Brain storming sessions and share the best practices and ideas with the peer groups and team members
  • Consistently evaluate and update documented procedures to ensure they are complete, accurate and current.
  • Perform daily controls on team activity as per the existing check lists to ensure priorities have been completed with accuracy.
  • Escalate to the Team Leader/Manager any incident or operational risk.
Work Experience/Knowledge:
  • 4-6 years of experience with federal tax treatment of securities and taxation of mutual funds is preferred
  • Strong understanding of Tax laws and withholdings taxes
  • Knowledge about the Double Tax Treaty Agreements, International Taxation, Custody Operations, Relief at source and Reclaim
  • Experience in International Taxation and Tax Treaty is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills, Detail orientation, service commitment, and solid organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
Formal Education:
  • A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in accounting or finance and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Semi qualified CA / Semi qualified CMA
  • Financial services industry related certifications.
License/Registration/Certification:
  • None
