A Senior Electrical Engineer (Power Plant) oversees and maintains the electrical systems in a power generation facility, ensuring safe and efficient operation through tasks like system monitoring, troubleshooting, technical guidance to junior staff, equipment inspection, and electrical maintenance for turbines, generators, switchgear, and power distribution systems. This role requires deep knowledge of power plant engineering, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage complex electrical systems, including medium and high voltage equipment, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
System Operation & Monitoring:
Manage the day-to-day operation of power plant electrical systems, including start-up and shutdown procedures, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Lead and provide technical support for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex electrical equipment such as switchgear, turbines, generators, and motor controllers.
Technical Leadership:
Guide and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and trainees, providing expertise on best practices for electrical maintenance and operation.
Equipment Inspection & Diagnostics:
Conduct regular inspections of electrical equipment, running diagnostics to identify and resolve potential issues before they become major problems.
Compliance & Standards:
Ensure all operations and electrical installations comply with relevant national and international standards, codes, and regulations.
Project Support:
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new or upgraded electrical systems and equipment, including gas turbines, steam turbines, and balance of plant electrical systems.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare and review technical documentation, quality control reports, and procedure checklists for electrical activities.
