Roles and Responsibilities Job Summary: The Specialist Copy Editor performs and assists in the execution of quality control and assurance processes, including regular inspections, sampling inspections, and revisions analyses, for the Copywriting team. They ensure all orders are free of errors in grammar, punctuation, tone, spelling, context, content and accuracy. This role will also assist in improving the copywriters' work by documenting errors and providing feedback. Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure all text is in line with clients' preferred style Check accuracy of published business addresses, websites, phone numbers, advertised prices and all other relevant information Check structure and flow of text, as well as grammar, spelling and punctuation Update and maintain error logs to record quality performance Work with copywriting manager to discuss team errors and ways to help writers maintain quality of work Mentor copywriters, as needed, to improve quality of work If necessary, take on copywriter role in processing orders Track orders and ensure deadlines are met Maintain productivity and accuracy standards for the role and follow a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) when necessary. Accept tasks assigned by superiors and/or Team Leader with minimal handover. Regularly coordinate, collaborate and interact with team members to ensure cross- learning and continuous improvement. Abide by the policies and rules of the company and act in a professional manner at all times. Perform/render other duties or special projects, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job. Mentoring and Coaching: Use expertise and experience to assist others in acquiring the knowledge, understanding, and resources they need to succeed in their role. Training: Support the QM/QC Lead in conducting training, as necessary. This may also include management and generation of reports. Internal Clients Management: Prepares and presents both written and verbal communication to internal clients. Internal Communication. Collaborates with Operations Manager and Team Leads to develop goals and objectives Root cause analysis: The ability to identify root causes of problems and issues using various methods such as, but not limited to, Why-Why Analysis and the Ishikawa Diagram. Corrective action planning and execution: The ability to identify, map out, and execute corrective actions that directly address identified root causes of an issue or problem. External Clients: Prepares and presents both written and verbal communication to clients. Expected Work Hours: This position requires a willingness to work on a shifting schedule, as well as on holidays and rest days. Desired Candidate Profile Skill Set and Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Literature, Journalism, Communications, or any related field Experience in ad industry is a plus but not required Quality Control experience is a plus but not required Quality Management Skills: Attention to detail. The ability to recognize parts of a product or procedure to verify the correctness or identify errors. Problem solving. The ability to identify and define a problem and provide options or alternatives to solve the problem. Balanced decision making. The ability to be objective and fair in assessing a situation and make an ethical decision, taking in consideration all aspects and balancing the needs of all stakeholders Data gathering and analysis. The ability to seek, gather, and form meaning from data from various sources to provide context or resolution. Continuous improvement. Ensuring work meets or exceeds standards and identifies and executes methods to make task fulfillment more efficient. Technical Skills: Editorial judgment. Assessing written content for uniqueness identifying possible legal issues evaluating credibility of sources using expertise, experience, or exposure to the culture of English-speaking countries or the targeted demography to assess readability and suitability for the target audience and improve content organization, word choice, and usage2 Copy editing. Reviewing and assessing written content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage issues completeness of content requirements consistency and compliance with special instructions and in-house guidelines Fact checking. Verifying the accuracy of information using all available tools and resources Computer literacy. The ability to effectively use Office applications, e-mail and messaging applications, and search engines and other online tools available to produce outputs, gather information, coordinate with stakeholders, and verify accuracy of information. Copywriting. The ability to engage and persuade a target audience using written content to achieve marketing and advertising goals. Soft Skills: Communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken or written English
