The South Indian Chef is responsible for preparing authentic South Indian dishes while maintaining high standards of taste, quality, hygiene, and presentation, ensuring guest satisfaction and smooth kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook traditional South Indian dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Ensure authenticity, consistency, and quality in taste and presentation
Prepare items such as idli, dosa, vada, appam, puttu, sambar, rasam, curries, and chutneys
Plan daily mise-en-place and ensure timely service
Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards as per FSSAI / HACCP norms
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and FIFO of ingredients
Minimize food wastage and follow portion control standards
Coordinate with kitchen team and service staff for smooth operations
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and work areas
Assist in menu planning and introduction of new regional specialties
Handle guest requests, special dietary needs, and feedback
Skills & Competencies
In-depth knowledge of South Indian cuisine (Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Karnataka)
Expertise in breakfast and traditional dishes
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Good time management and multitasking skills
Team player with basic leadership abilities
Qualifications & Experience
Certificate / Diploma in Culinary Arts or Hotel Management preferred
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a South Indian Chef in a hotel, restaurant, or catering unit
Working Conditions
Shift-based duties including early morning shifts
Standing for long hours in hot kitchen conditions
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ?15,000.00 - ?25,000.00 per month
