Clarivate is looking for a Solutions Architect for our K12 and Genealogy applications. The suite of products is built for the research and education of developing students as well as the professional genealogist. Ranging from surfacing the leading issues of our world to reviewing census records hundreds of years old, the architect will be setting the direction of future enhancements to this set of products.
About You \xe2\x80\x93 experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
At least 10 years of technology experience, with at least 3+ in an architecture role and 5+ in software engineering.
University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Design Engineering or Mathematics
Excellent collaboration, communication, and visual design skills
Extensive experience with Java programming is a must, as well as experience in cloud design.
Architects are expected to have working knowledge of at least one technology or SaaS from each of the following groups:
Cloud Infrastructure: AWS, GCE
Software Development: Java (required), PHP, Angular
Web Services Design & Best Practices with REST, JSON
SQL Database Design: Oracle, MySQL, Postgres

Advanced degree with specialization in systems architecture or extensive systems architecture experience is desirable.
Experience in Groovy / Grails, Python, OpenSeaDragon, BitBucket, Adobe Contribute, Handlebars, JSF
Ability to transform legacy systems into modern architectures
What will you be doing in this role?
Work together with the Head of Architecture and engineering leads to define the long-term technology strategy for the Guided Research applications, evaluating technologies and generating roadmaps as necessary.
Assist project teams in mapping their current solutions to the long-term strategy.
Provide governance for security, scalability, and disaster recovery in both cloud and on-premise environments.
Work closely with the application and DevOps-oriented teams building out the systems, collaborating on design elements and execution specifics as needed. Hands-on work is expected.
Advise other local technology teams on best practices, and applicable technologies, and educate teams on the basics of cloud-native delivery.
Reviewing requirements and providing feedback and estimates
Interacting with stakeholders as a technical consultant
Providing architecture for several web applications
Providing technical guidance and mentoring software engineers
Investigating integration of third-party technologies
