We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We\xe2\x80\x99re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances These requests will be reviewed and agreed for a period of time i.e., will have a start and end date.

The purpose of the role is to deliver the architectural oversight and strategic solutions across projects within the Global Cash Settlements Technology team. This will require working with business areas including applications teams to understand the applications that they own and the lifecycles of payments within them; working with the CTO team to help define and deliver a simplified, scalable and future proof payment flows within Global Markets.
What will you be doing?

• Work with enterprise application and data architects in the definition of product strategy and roadmaps
• Collaborate with customers, project solution architects, business analysts and developers to turn business requirements into solution designs that meet the business needs while aligning with our technical architectural and data strategy
• Present complex technical ideas (both written and verbal), anticipate potential objections and persuade others to adopt the most appropriate view
• Produce design artefacts such as component landscapes, flow diagrams, word documents, confluence pages to help articulate key design decisions
• Solve unique and complex technical problems with broad impact on our key business areas as a whole
• Understand technical constraints of the environment and architecture, building this into the solution design
• Produce High Level End to End Design documents

What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:

• Good English language skills to communicate with multiple international locations
• Experience of Modern Architecture patterns e.g. Domain Driven, Event Based, Data lakes, API (e.g. MicroServices, REST, etc.).
• Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
• Technology design either at application or infrastructure level that enables you to resolve complex business issues with a simple and cost effective technology based solution.
• Understanding of best practice architectural and design methods e.g. Domain Driven Architecture, building for resilience, scalability, performance, etc.
• Broad understanding of a wide variety of technologies, with notable substantial knowledge and experience in specific technology areas.

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Functional/Domain experience of payments within finance
• Experience of working in a highly regulated environment.
• Ability to identify feasible options, problem solve and collaborate to get agreement or make necessary decisions.
• Ability to identify and evolve solutions to problems and to collaborate to get agreement or make necessary decisions
• Understanding of best practice architectural and design methods along with the appropriate governance and controls
• Maintains an up-to-date knowledge on a broad range of industry technologies and solutions
• Experience in cash settlements projects
• Experience in delivering architectural change in systems.
• Knowledge of SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 payments
