Position Title: Software Engineer

External Description:

Software Engineer

Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new external customer products. Uses a variety of applicable technologies to participate in the development of products through all stages from planning/design to development, testing, and documentation. Drives ideas for new software products or enhancements of existing products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Develops code for new or existing software of moderate complexity and less direct supervision of work.
• Owns portion(s) of feature(s) or small modules
• Offers constructive opinions
• Understand requirements and authors technical designs
• Authors new small and/or well-defined programming tasks
• Debugs own code
• Designs for testability and documents how to test a feature and/or technology
• Uses classical data structures, algorithms and resource management techniques
• Collects and uses metrics

Knowledge & Skills

• Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
• Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
• Progressive knowledge of programming languages, applications, tools, and utilities
• Codes/debugs moderately complex programs using written or verbal instruction/specifications

Education/Experience

• BA/BS or equivalent educational background is preferred
• Minimum 2+ years of relevant professional experience
