Position Description:

  • Employees in this job function are responsible for designing, developing, testing and maintaining software applications and products to meet customer needs.
  • They are involved in the entire software development lifecycle including designing software architecture, writing code, testing for quality and deploying the software to meet customer requirements.
  • Full-stack software engineering roles, who can develop all components of software including user interface and server side also fall within this job function.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with customers to deeply understand their use-cases, pain points, and requirements, showcasing empathy and advocating for user-centric software solutions
  • Solve complex problems by designing, developing, and delivering using various tools, languages, frameworks, methodologies (like agile) and technologies
  • Assess the requirements of the software application or service and determine the most suitable technology stack, integration method, deployment strategy, etc.
  • Create high-level software architecture designs that outline the overall structure, components, and interfaces of the application
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams like product owners, designers, architects etc.
  • Define and implement software test strategy, guidelines, policies and processes in line with organization vision, industry regulations and market best practices.
  • Work on continuously improving performance and optimizing the application and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
  • Familiar with programming practices, such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
  • Support security practices to safeguard user data including encryption and anonymization.
  • Create user-friendly and interactive interfaces
  • Develop and maintain back-end applications like APIs and microservices using server-side languages
  • Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies and capabilities to deliver their solutions, and are monitoring and participating in solutions for new stack layers, often involving industry collaboration

Short Description:
  • Lead initiatives and develop network automation tools, self-service solutions, and intuitive dashboards for our Network Services team.
  • This role combines hands-on development with driving technical initiatives, including agile facilitation, planning, and DevOps practices in a container-first environment leveraging GoLang, Python, React, OpenShift & CI/CD.
  • Description As a member of the Tools team within the Network Services Department, you will play a key role in designing and developing innovative self-service and automation tools that enhance the productivity and quality of network infrastructure tasks.
  • Our Network Tools portfolio comprises custom-built software solutions that empower network teams with automation capabilities, intuitive dashboards, and self-service features, ultimately driving efficiency and excellence in enterprise network infrastructure operations.
  • This position offers an exciting opportunity to balance technical development expertise with leadership responsibilities, working with modern technologies like GoLang, Python, React, and OpenShift Container Platform.
  • You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions while leading DevOps practices and driving technical decision-making for our automation tools ecosystem.

Experience Required:
  • Engineer II Exp.: Practitioner: 1 coding language or framework. 4+ years in IT; 3+ years in development Expectations for this niche automation engineer position
  • 4 to 5 years min. overall software development experience with strong proficiency in GoLang, Python, and React (minimum 3 years each), plus experience with OpenShift, CI/CD practices, SQL proficiency, and demonstrated technical leadership capabilities.
  • Proven experience in developing automation solutions (preferably Network automation), and 3+ years of modern frontend development experience including React and CSS.
  • Experience with or willingness to quickly learn OpenShift Container Platform architecture, application deployment, and resource management.
  • DevOps experience or strong interest in learning CI/CD pipelines (Tekton), GitOps workflows (ArgoCD), and Linux/Unix environment proficiency for legacy application support.
  • Experience in developing and managing APIs, with basic Perl familiarity for legacy application migration to GoLang.
  • Currently an active hands-on software developer with excellent troubleshooting and analytical capabilities, plus willingness to lead technical initiatives and project coordination responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong communication skills, fluent in English, and demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire new technological skills through experimentation and innovative problem-solving
Experience Preferred:
  • Advanced DevOps experience with Tekton CI/CD pipelines, ArgoCD GitOps workflows, Git (GitHub/GitLab), and Jira project management.
  • Experience with security and code quality tools (e.g., SonarQube), and AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot).
  • Cloud-native development experience in GCP (CaaS environments) or Azure (Microsoft services integration).
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, Cisco equipment), Observability, AIOps concepts and tools.
  • Prior experience in network infrastructure operations or CCNA certification.
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree, High School Diploma / GED, Associate Degree
