Job Summary

As a Software Engineer III serving Global Security\'s Threat Detection and Analysis Office, at JPMorgan Chase, you will partner with software and data engineers to build solutions to support our Global Security intelligence partners. You will collaborate with technical and business partners during all phases of the software delivery lifecycle.

Job responsibilities

  • Independently deliver high-quality, testable, and maintainable code within planned timeframes.
  • Design and build support for non-functional requirements such as security, performance, resiliency, fault-tolerance, monitoring, alerting, reporting, etc.
  • Apply system thinking and methodologies, to decompose complex use cases into elegant solutions.
  • Analyze, design, develop, and troubleshoot with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications.
  • Drive requirements discussions with a consultive and solution-oriented approach with ability to influence.
  • Apply knowledge of tools within the SDLC toolchain to apply automation.
  • Add to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • BS in computer science, data engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • 5+ years of professional agile software engineering experience (Python, Java, Spring).
  • 3+ years with ETL pipelines, data models, scripts, scheduling, monitoring, and alerts.
  • 3+ years with SQL and RDBMS (Oracle or similar).
  • Experience with UNIX and shell scripting.
  • Experience with full SDLC - analysis, research, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation, deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting support.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD, Git/Bitbucket, branching/merging, npm, Maven.
  • Experience with agile and scrum processes applicable to product development and delivery.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience with big data technologies - Hadoop/Cloudera, Hive, Impala, Spark, HBase, HUE.
  • Data architecture, modeling, design, schema management, meta data management, versioning, and security.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Pentaho or similar.
  • Optimization of high-volume datasets to efficiently utilize compute and storage.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills in the big data, data science, and machine learning domain.
  • Knowledge of mathematics, statistical analysis, unsupervised learning, and evaluating models.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices architecture with REST API design principles and best practices.
  • Experience using Jenkins, SonarQube, GIT, and Maven.
  • AWS Certification and experience with developing on AWS Cloud Platform.
  • Peer reviewing code and providing/receiving constructive feedback.
  • Splunk queries.
