An Electrical Shift Incharge for a Sponge Iron (SID) plant is responsible for supervising electrical operations, maintenance, and safety during a shift to ensure smooth plant function. Key duties include leading a team, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment like HT/LT systems and VFDs, conducting preventive maintenance, and maintaining detailed records and logs of shift activities. The role requires a strong technical background in electrical systems specific to heavy industry, such as steel plants, and proven leadership skills. 
Key responsibilities 
 Supervise operations: 
 Oversee all electrical operations and equipment during the assigned shift to ensure efficiency and safety. 
 Lead a team: 
 Direct and guide a team of electricians and technicians, delegating tasks and ensuring work is performed correctly. 
 Maintain equipment: 
 Ensure the performance of regular inspections, general maintenance, and scheduled preventive maintenance for all machinery and equipment. 
 Troubleshoot and repair: 
 Respond promptly to electrical malfunctions and emergencies by diagnosing and rectifying faults in systems like HT/LT motors, VFDs, and MCC panels. 
 Ensure safety and compliance: 
 Implement and enforce strict adherence to safety procedures, statutory compliances, and company policies. 
 Manage documentation: 
 Maintain detailed logs, breakdown records, and shift reports. Document activities and report major issues to the Head of Department (HOD). 
 Coordinate with other departments: 
 Liaise with Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Production teams to ensure seamless shift operations. 
 Material management: 
 Prepare material indents for necessary electrical spares and consumables.
