Job Description

A shift engineer ensures the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of equipment and facilities during their assigned shift by performing maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with teams. Key responsibilities include monitoring systems, conducting inspections, performing preventive and reactive maintenance, and managing any operational problems or emergencies that arise. This role is critical in minimizing downtime, ensuring safety and compliance, and maintaining operational efficiency in various industries like manufacturing and hotels.
Core Responsibilities
Equipment & Facility Maintenance:
Overseeing the upkeep of machinery, electrical systems, and other facility equipment (e.g., HVAC, generators, fire services).
Troubleshooting & Repairs:
Identifying and fixing mechanical, electrical, or operational issues quickly to prevent downtime and ensure continuous operation.
Preventive Maintenance:
Conducting routine inspections and scheduled maintenance to prevent future problems and ensure equipment reliability.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhering to and enforcing health, safety, and operational standards for the equipment and personnel.
Monitoring & Reporting:
Keeping detailed logs of operations, maintenance performed, and issues encountered, then generating reports for management.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and operational systems relevant to the industry.
Problem-Solving:
The ability to analyze situations, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions under pressure.
Adaptability:
Willingness to work shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) and handle unexpected situations.
Communication:
Clearly communicating with other team members, technicians, and management about equipment status and issues.
Attention to Detail:
Meticulous in monitoring equipment, following procedures, and maintaining accurate records.
