VolCon is India?s flagship national conference on volunteers that brings together Corporates, NGOs and Individuals passionate about improving volunteerism in India. The event is a collaborative effort between Bhumi and iVolunteer, two of India?s leading volunteering organisations, and brings together some of the most inspiring volunteer leaders in the country. The 2022 edition of the conference saw over 200+ participants from nearly 100 NGOs and 20+ corporates. The Manager for VolCon will be responsible for designing and delivering the next edition of the national conference that could dramatically alter the stage for doing good. The goal is to bring people and organisations together to make India a much better nation for all, reaching out to those who are underserved. The vision is to scale participation in the event, and outcomes from it ten fold. This role is a unique opportunity to co-design a pan-India initiative, with the potential to go global. Primary responsibilities:
Plan and execute a marketing and outreach strategy to increase participation in VolCon
Ensure participation from Corporates / NGOs / and other institutions is maximised
Plan and finalise all event details like venue and logistics for the event
Identify potential speakers who are influencers and trail-blazers in the volunteering space. Engage with them well in advance and secure confirmation for their attendance.
Design other events around the main theme of VolCon, like youth conferences or corporate summits in volunteering
Plan and execute sponsor outreach strategies early on, secure sponsorship and manage sponsor engagement. Ensure commitments to sponsors are honoured.
Further build the community around Volcon in maximising their co-ownership in curating and executing the conference.
Expected learning from this role:
Make connections with some significant leaders in both the corporate and the NGO sectors
Be able to showcase a concrete outcome for your efforts in the form of a conference
You will be supported by:
Past learnings and experiences of organising previous VolCons
Access to the network and connections of senior leadership in Bhumi and iVolunteer
Access to an existing set of participants who can lead to newer audiences
A head start in terms of potentially interested people and organisations
Qualification and Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the social sector
Holding a Master?s in Business Administration will be an advantage
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High on ownership, result-oriented and strong bias to action.
Ability to work independently, be proactive, responsible and resourceful, but seek support when required to unblock yourself.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Excellent project planning and follow-up skills, with a focus to complete the task on hand.
Ability to balance multiple priorities and diverse requirements.
Excellent people engagement skills and ability to network seamlessly with people across the spectrum, and build relationships.
Expert level written and verbal communication skills
