Job Description

Understand clients' travel needs, preferences, and budget for trips to Darjeeling, Siliguri, Sikkim, Kalimpong, and surrounding areas. Proactively sell and promote pre-packaged tours and holiday deals, as well as upsell premium services (e.g., luxury hotels, specialized activities). Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets. Design, create, and customize detailed travel itineraries, including specific routes for the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (Toy Train), local sightseeing in Siliguri, and excursions to hill stations. Book and manage reservations for all travel components: flights, trains (especially to/from NJP/Bagdogra), hotels, and ground transportation (e.g., private car hires, shared taxis). Provide expert and up-to-date information on local attractions (like the Tiger Hill sunrise, tea gardens), weather conditions, local customs, visa/permit requirements (e.g., for certain parts of Sikkim), and health and safety advisories specific to the region. Ensure all travel arrangements comply with local tourism and transport regulations. Handle client queries, modifications, cancellations, and special requests promptly and professionally before, during, and after their trip. Address any travel hiccups or unexpected situations (e.g., road closures due to weather, booking errors) during the client's journey. Build and maintain strong working relationships with local suppliers, including hotels, tour operators, airlines, and transport companies in Siliguri, Darjeeling, and other destinations. Negotiate the best possible rates and packages with vendors. Prepare and issue all necessary travel documents, including vouchers, detailed itineraries, and booking confirmations. Maintain accurate records of bookings, sales, customer interactions, and market feedback.
equired Skills & Qualifications

Regional Knowledge (Essential):

Extensive, current, and verifiable knowledge of Siliguri, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Dooars, and various parts of Sikkim (Gangtok, North Sikkim, etc.).

Sales & Business Acumen:

Proven track record in achieving sales targets, strong negotiation skills, and commercial awareness.

Customer Service:

Exceptional interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and relationship-building skills. The ability to communicate effectively in

English, Hindi, and Bengali/Nepali

is often a strong advantage for the local market.

Organizational Skills:

Meticulous planner with outstanding attention to detail for managing complex itineraries and multiple bookings under tight deadlines.

Technical Proficiency:

Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel) and email, and experience with travel booking software/GDS systems (e.g., Amadeus, Sabre) is a plus.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in any field is generally required, with a qualification or diploma in Tourism, Travel Management, or Hospitality being highly preferred.
