is responsible for supervising stewarding operations to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of kitchen and service areas. This role includes leading junior stewards, maintaining sanitation standards, and supporting smooth kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily stewarding activities including cleaning of kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishware
Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of all stewarding areas including dishwashing, pot washing, garbage disposal, and storerooms
Lead, train, and mentor junior stewards to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety
Monitor and control the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies
Inspect kitchen and stewarding areas for compliance with hygiene and safety standards (HACCP)
Assist kitchen staff with basic support tasks such as moving supplies and organizing stock
Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of dishwashing machines and stewarding equipment
Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor promptly
Handle garbage disposal in accordance with environmental and safety regulations
Maintain inventory of stewarding supplies and request replenishments as needed
Requirements:
Minimum 1-2 years experience in stewarding, preferably with supervisory responsibilities
Knowledge of kitchen hygiene, sanitation standards, and safety procedures
Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
Physically fit to handle manual cleaning and lifting tasks
Good communication skills
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic food hygiene or safety certification
Experience in hotel or large kitchen environments
Familiarity with HACCP and local health regulations
