Job Summary

:

The Senior Steward is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen and dishwashing areas. They supervise junior stewards, ensure hygiene standards are met, assist in equipment maintenance, and support smooth kitchen operations by coordinating with culinary and service teams.

Key Responsibilities

:

Supervise the stewarding team in cleaning and maintaining all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas. Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are consistently maintained in dishwashing and back-of-house areas. Assign duties to stewards and monitor task completion and performance. Operate dishwashing machines and ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals and supplies. Oversee the segregation and disposal of kitchen waste as per food safety standards. Assist in inventory control of cleaning materials and stewarding supplies. Maintain records of breakages and report equipment malfunctions promptly. Ensure compliance with food safety and HACCP standards. Support the culinary and service teams by ensuring all required utensils, dishes, and kitchen tools are cleaned and available. Assist with kitchen setup for large events, banquets, or peak service hours as needed.

Requirements

:

Minimum 2-4 years of experience in kitchen stewarding; at least 1 year in a supervisory or senior role. Knowledge of kitchen sanitation standards and chemical safety. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays. Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP knowledge preferred).
