Software Engineer, Kubernetes/DevOps

We are looking for someone who enjoys working on complex problems, has an analytical mind, experience with computer science concepts and development processes, and a keen interest in learning new things.

Responsibilities:

As part of Engineering team, you will:

Do in-depth analysis of issues reported by Support team.

Coordinate the defect-resolution process in Rancher product.

Coordination of and active involvement in bug-fixing process.

Fixing code defects and publishing patches.

Collaborate with development teams to resolve product issues and understand product goals.

Develop skills to become a subject matter expert around some Rancher components, of your interests.

Write content for the SUSE Rancher knowledge base and create or maintain tooling that is valuable to colleagues and customers.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.

6+ years of related work experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

You are passionate about programming and creating excellent software which meets the goals of its users

Demonstrable experience contributing to Open Source projects and interacting with their communities

Experience with continuous integration and writing tests for your code

Typically, 3+ years experience in DevOps, quality assurance, automation, or a similar engineering role

Extended Linux knowledge in general; familiarity with Linux administration.

Demonstrable experience with Kubernetes in either Linux or Windows environment

Proficiency in Bash and Go

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in working in a virtual and distributed environment.

Demonstrable scripting experience

Experience in CI/CD pipeline tools like Jenkins, Drone, Cirrus-CI, or Github Actions

Experience with Distributed systems, IaaS/PaaS (infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service).

Experience with Cloud Providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and managed Kubernetes services like EKS, AKS, or GKE

Experience with containers and container orchestration (Rancher, Kubernetes, or Docker).

Familiarity with cloud native applications

Nice to have:

CKA certification

Linux certification

Proficiency in Helm

Experience with automation around Public Clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure or others)

Experience with GKE, AKS or EKS

Experience with Python, JavaScript, or Go

Experience with Cypress

Experience with GitHub Actions

Experience with terraform

Experience in Agile process

Familiarity with Rancher and Docker
