We offer digital solutions for asustainable agriculture by optimizing crop production and support farmersworldwide through monitoring of soil and crop conditions, assisting withdisease and pest recognition, and recommend tailored treatments based on in-fieldconditions. As Senior Software Engineer BackendJava/ GIS you will be responsible for the Java-based backend development, GISarchitecture and operations inside the globally operating digital farming unit. You will ensure efficient andcost-effective handling and processing of large volumes of geospatial datalayers, like machinery data, soil and satellite imagery etc. In close collaboration with ourremote sensing research team you will support the implementation of satellite /drone imagery processing. Together with the project team youwill translate Digital Farming business needs into IT requirements and concretetechnical implementations covering the whole software development lifecycle. At last, you will participate in allphases of the product governance and development life cycle, including writingepics, user stories and support the sprint planning in our agile developmentsetup. Qualifications Bachelors degree in computersciences, natural sciences, engineering, mathematics, GIS or related fields. Solid experience with Java GeoTools,PostGIS, QGIS and GeoServer. Good understanding of geospatialrelated concepts like raster/ vector data handling, geometry simplification,statistical clustering, filters and geometric operations. Good understanding of handling farmmachinery data and environmental data layers like soil, topology etc. would bean advantage Excellent communication in Englishand analytical skills to build as well as maintain good working relationshipsacross the entire organization
