Job summary
We're building an entirely new retail experience with no lines and no checkout. Our checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by our Just Walk Out Technology, which automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. When a customer is done shopping, they just walk out! Shortly after, their credit card is charged for their purchases and a receipt is sent.

In addition to Just Walk Out technology, we are creating a variety of other exciting customer experiences through inventions like Amazon One and Amazon Dash Cart. These products use a variety of technologies including computer vision, sensor fusion, and advanced machine learning. Innovation is part of our DNA! Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Manager, Software Development, you will help lead multiple teams of engineers, engineering managers, TPMs and others that solve a variety of technical challenges and accomplish organization wide goals. You will hire and develop the best as we look to build, grow and support the teams under you. You will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept in partnership with other technology leaders within the team. You will help invent new features, design, develop and deploy highly scalable and reliable distributed services. Help in automating workflows to speed up operations.
You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and given the size of this initiative, you'll have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that's higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving problems that, frankly, haven't been solved at scale before - anywhere. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
• Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
• 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
• 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 7+ years' experience.
• 10+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years as a Development Manager
• Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project planning/execution skills including estimating and scheduling.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with developers, business owners, and senior business leaders.
• Proven track record of hiring and managing high performing engineering teams
