Senior Software Development Engineer (Backend)- (Remote opportunity) Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) brings together the Company's best-in-class product, technology, and commercialization teams together into one global organization.DMED is responsible for the P&L management and all distribution, network and engineering operations, sales, advertising, data, and certain key technology functions worldwide for the Company's content engines. DMED also manages operations of the Company's streaming services including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ Hotstar and domestic broadcast and cable television networks. Disney+ Hotstar is leading the way as the largest and smartest video platform in the country, reaching over 300 million users today. We have set a number of world records along the way - including for the highest concurrent viewership at 25.3 million during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. About the Team We are striving to create the best video content destination for our consumers on a varied set of devices, from phones to tablets, including devices coming out with the bleeding edge of technology.The Markets team at Hotstar is responsible for growing Disney+ Hotstar in new & emerging countries across the globe: including Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, African & European countries. As an engineer, you will be building products for over 4 Billion+ users worldwide. This role requires you to work closely with the entire engineering team at Hotstar and strategize & implement a multi-country architecture. While on one end, you will be involved in ensuring our backend systems are highly available for all our users across the globe. On the other hand, you will constantly be building localized applications for our users in different countries. Working in this team will give you exposure to international markets and allow you to directly work with product and business teams of all the countries. The pace of our growth is incredible - if you want to tackle hard and interesting problems at scale, and create an impact within an entrepreneurial environment, join us!Your Key Responsibilities You will build robust secure and scalable micro-services to power Hotstar applications You will be responsible to implement RESTful services with a metric-driven API Gateway You will ensure sub-second server response and will be responsible to implementrelational, document, key, object or graph data-stores, index stores and messaging storesas needed You will take ownership to run and maintain Cloud infrastructure You will continuously evaluate relevant technologies, influence and drive architecture anddesign discussions What to Bring B.Tech/B.E. in Computer Science from a reputed college or related technical discipline with 6-8 years of experience in software development with strong expertise in Java Experience with micro web frameworks - like Play, Spring MVC, Node js, reactive programming Exposure in building RESTful APIs with monitoring, fault tolerance, and metrics (with something like Hystrix) Experience with MySQL, NoSQL (Cassandra, Redis, DynamoDB) Experience in server-side services using ElasticSearch and Kafka Experience in JEE, Spring, Hibernate Experience with AWS stack High adaptability in a dynamic start-up environment Our Values - We are customer obsessed - We are audacious in vision and action - We encourage honesty and open dialogue - We respect everyone and every point of view - We make objective and data-driven decisions - We believe trust and accountability go hand-in-hand - We invest in each other's growth - We bring our A-game and nothing else - We take charge and get it done The Perks - The glory.
