Job Summary: Altair Engineering is seeking an experienced software developer to contribute to our Computational Fluid Dynamics post-processing solution. The successful candidate will have a critical role in designing and implementing data analysis and visualization technology with an emphasis on speed, robustness, accuracy, and scalability. This position offers a unique opportunity to explore state-of-the-art visualization technology in a production environment. The candidate will gain experience working with highly experienced professionals and be an integral part of the product development, release, maintenance, and support phases. Over time, the strong collaborative nature of this role offers exposure to Altair's entire simulation portfolio.
What You Will Do:

• Independently implement, test, and document data analysis and visualization pipelines using a combination of in-house and open source tools
• Profile and optimize feature implementation to improve speed and scalability on CPUs and GPUs
• Contribute to a modern data analysis and visualization API that is deployed across multiple teams within Altair
• Contribute to general source code maintenance and other relevant software development activities (bug fixes, support, etc)
• Collaborate with teams developing the user-interface and scientific visualization tools/technologies
• Collaborate with solver development teams to understand data structures and optimal visualization and analysis strategies
• Collaborate with Product Management, QA, and Documentation teams to accomplish product milestones in a timely manner

What You Will Need:
Basics:

• Experience in building post-processing applications for engineering simulation data
• Understanding of the tools used in scientific visualization pipelines; data processing filters, openGL, etc.
• Strong background in scientific computing and simulation
• Experience developing VTK based applications
• Proficiency with object oriented programming in C++ and python for scientific visualization
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in an applicable technical field with 3-5 years of industry experience

Preferred:

• Experience in developing custom VTK filters
• Experience in performing CFD simulations
• Hands-on experience in using VTK and ParaView to post-process CFD results
