Introduction:

  • To help leaders across Barclays to navigate geopolitical trends by providing timely and relevant assessments of the multi-faceted implications of geopolitical developments for the organisation on near-, medium- and long-range horizons in key regions of Barclays operations.
  • To provide the bankaAEURA(TM)s Resilience, Crisis Management and Operational Risk functions with timely and clearly articulated warning and assessment of new or evolving risks and forecasting of future risks.
  • To develop and maintain appropriate relationships with governments, think tanks, intelligence vendors, and industry bodies and networks to ensure that the bank receives the most accurate, relevant and informed insight in a timely manner.
a, What will you be doing?
  • To produce timely and high quality analysis and assessment of geopolitical risks that the organisation may encounter and the economic, regulatory, reputational and wider implications for the organisationaAEURA(TM)s day-to-day operations and strategic direction.
  • To develop and maintain a sustainable network of appropriate and reliable sources of information which add insight and value to publicly available information on geopolitical trends and developments and on security threats.a,
  • To develop and maintain an awareness of the wider global implications of geopolitical events and trends and of evolving security threats and wider operational risks in order to support wider team operations and output.
  • To help develop new, innovative intelligence products to meet existing and evolving stakeholder requirements.
  • To collaborate across the CSO function and the wider bank to develop product requirements from existing consumers of intelligence, and to understand and appropriately support the operations of other units as necessary, including through development of new and refined intelligence products.
a, What weaAEURA(TM)re looking for:
  • A university degree in international relations, international security, political economy, or another relevant subject, or extensive experience in an analytic role with a practitioner organisation(s).
  • A qualification in macroeconomics and ability to apply this in the production of geopolitical analysis.
  • Fluency in English and ability to produce high quality written work without support.
a, Skills that will help you in the role
  • An advanced university degree in international relations, international security, political economy, or another relevant subject.
  • A qualification in economics gained at a university.
  • Ability to work across time zones in a multicultural setting.
